17 inch Jeep rims from the previous GC WK 2005-2010 do NOT fit the Hemi Overland. They do NOT clear the calipers. Anyone know the Mopar parts number for 2011 17" Grand Cherokee Rims, and more importantly, will they mount on a Hemi Overland? I believe that the clippers on the Hemi package MAY be bigger due to the increased towing rating.

I don't think they will fit for the reason you describe- the Hemi Grand Cherokees have the heavy duty brake package, and 17" rims won't clear them.

When I bought winter rims, I went with 18" ones, even though I only have the V-6; I just couldn't be certain that the 17s would work on the Overland. They probably will, but I didn't want to risk having to send them back (essentially eating $300 in shipping by the time all was said and done) when there was no price difference between a 17" package and a 18" package.

I tried a 17" winter tire package and the rims contacted the brake calipers before the rims were fully seated - had to go to a 18" package. I have a Limited/HEMI/Towing Package with the heavy duty brakes.

Fingers crossed that there are 17 inch rims that will work because I have an awesome set of 265/70R17 tires I want to put on the WK2. They currently are on the 2008 WK Hemi Overland on 17" Ronin rims because the Ronins WON'T fit the WK2 Hemi OVL. The same tire (Goodyear Wrangler Duratrak) in 275/65R18 will NOT fit on the WK2 and are not available in 265/60R18.

Yes, that's true but it is not solely an Overland feature, I know my Hemi Limited has the over-sized brakes. Now, I am not sure if the "larger brakes" comes as a function of the Hemi, or a function of the Tow Package IV (which is the tow package with the Hemi - Tow III comes with the V6).

I am unsure because I do not know if the 17's come with a Hemi equipped Laredo. Anyone with a Hemi Laredo have the 17's? And, if you have the 17's do you have the Tow IV package?

Its part of the Hemi pakcage.

I have a 2011 Laredo X with Offroad Adventure II and Trailer Tow IV packages meaning Hemi with Quadra Drive II. It calls out 18's, but mine has "18 inch wheel delete" on the invoice giving it 17 inch wheels with Goodyear Forteras (245/70) with white letters. The Jeep factory 17 inch wheels fit and when looking for pads were the same as an Overland.

There must be an error somewhere in here. I would look again.

Looked a little further. Same pads on 17 and 18's, different rotors. I've never seen another Laredo X like mine. On the WKII website they list "18 inch wheel delete" as an option on 2012 but not on 2011. However mine came from the factory this way, listed on invoice and proper tire stickers on door jam for 17's.

Do you have a hemi?

I believe the bigger brakes are part of the hemi package, I have the hemi with factory 18 wheels, the front calipers are really really close to the rim, there is no way a 17 will clear them.

Yes, Hemi, Quadra Drive II (electronically controlled limited slip rear), Trailer Tow IV, air suspension, etc. A beast with 17 inchers. I searched hundred of vehicles on web sites to find this setup. This was a Laredo X stickered at almost 42,000. (saved almost 3k with preferred partners discount 6/2011, deals better now here in Oregon) Charcoal Pearlcoat, black leather interior, 430N, single pain sunroof. Wanted Quadra Drive II in a Laredo. Personal choice. The 17 inch wheels were a surprise, didn't know an "18 wheel delete" existed until I saw this vehicle in person. Was happy because more tire and less wheel is good in my thinking but never considered the brake issue. I believe CR rated Hemi stopping quicker than V-6. Their Hemi probably had 18's or 20's with bigger calipers.
Guess I'll have to keep one foot on the brake when hot rodding my Hemi with 17 inchers. Anyone else have this setup or similar?

Picture of this set-up? So many variables that are rare, Hemi with 17 inch wheels that should not fit, and Laredo X with 17 inch wheels. I didnt know they could make the HEMI without the HD brake set up….. Please post pics!

Hopefully these pictures will help prove me a truth teller. WK2 Jeep website for 2012 Laredo --18" Off-Road Tire & Wheel Delete (requires Off-Road Adventure II Group, not available with 3.6L engine)--Mine is a 2011, you can tell by the color. I have Trailer tow IV with the 220 amp alt, HD cooling, wiring for trailer brakes. When looking up brake pads recently at Auto Zone site they were the same. Maybe I missed something. They did list different rotors however. The SRT8 has much larger brakes and makes ours look wimpy. Not an expert on the brake issue, can only show you what I have as far as wheels. I do find this interesting because when stopping hard on wet bumpy or slick surfaces I get a "hop" from the ABS that I find uncomfortable. One picture at Oregon coast. Our stomping ground for fun. The other shows 17"wheel with Goodyear tires (white letters out) and the left pipe showing it is a Hemi and the Laredo symbol. Yes I paid a lot for the Laredo set up this way (42,000 sticker, paid 39,000), sinking to peer pressure I didn't want to be accused of getting the soccer mom model. Just joking. Laredo's are lighter than Limited or Overlands and the X package makes them almost as nice. Laredo's don't have the daytime running lights either. I don't need a memory seat as I am the only driver and I can shut my own hatch.

Wow! Ok! You definitely proved your point. You have one strange rig! I don't even know where to start.............. It's definitely cool but wow it's kind of a mutt. How you got the Hemi without HD brakes is the strangest part.

Nice rig!

Excellent! I can work with that.

I have pretty much the same setup except I have the 18" wheels. And NO HD brakes.

Yeah we recently discovered in the fine print that V8 laredos don't have HD brakes. Only the limited and overland V8s. A V8 with SD brakes may be rare, just as rare as a Laredo V8, but not unheard of.

The brake pads seem to be identical regardless.
