Looking to get some newer/larger rims for my current stock WK.

I was just wondering how great of a loss in mpg's I could see with 20inch rims?

Was thinking of getting the 'MB TKO' black 20inch rims.

it wont change much, your dash will make it look like it changed alot becuase the computer wont know the size changed. but if you do the math by hand you will see it is about the same.

Is there a way to calibrate it? Can the auto care business do it when they install them?

i did mine with my superchips tuner. if you dont re-calibrate it your speedometer will be off which will throw off your odometer and mpg calculations.

first check the actual dimensions of your new tires vs your old tires. it may not be as big of a difference as you think

20's unless you are spending big bucks on lightweight forged, will weigh a ton more than the stock setup. The shocks will wear out (if they are stock and over 50k, they are already) due to all the added weight, it will accellerate slower and will ride much harsher, plus the tires cost about twice as much.... not worth it on a stock WK in my opinion.

I disagree with dmsfun...if you keep the outside diameter the same or close to the same as what your stock rims and tire are you should see any difference in MPGs. 20" rims are much cheaper than they use to be depending on what your looking for and tire prices are more money but usually not a whole lot different...just depends on what your looking for they could be a lot more. It will ride a little rougher as there is less sidewall tire between the rim and the road and you will lose some off road capability. I'm not sure what the rim width is that you have or what the backspace is either. On the WK2s the rims are 18x8 and the back space is 56.4mm. The WK2 rims will work on your WK I do know that and I'm pretty sure your backspace is about the same as the WK2. There is noticeable difference even with our diesel. On the plus side, the handling is so much better.

Big wheels and tires are for looks, and are costly. Better off upgrading the worn stock suspension, than putting on 20" wheels and tires. Mine with 17's and the Koni suspension will easily outhandle a stock WK with big wheels and tires, plus rides much better, is great off road, and is faster. If you were to put on the same tires in 17 and then 20, the handling difference will honestly not be that much different, but the ride will be quite a lot rougher over bumps, and forget offroading in your Jeep.

I have no reason to take my jeep offroad other than driving on the beach and my 20s handled it fine. I even had 315s on the back. Riding on trails is of no interest to me, so i would rather it look good.

I changed to slightly taller tires and noticed a decrease in MPG, so even if I do go to 20" rims, I'm hoping it won't be any worse than I'm at now since I'm not stock.

I have 22's and they weight a ton. 50 lbs+ a wheel and my mpg didnt suffer much. I drive on some lght trails all the time.

When I had my reps and nittos I only took about .01 hit on acceleration but fuel milage didn't change. Biggest difference was in the corners, handling vastly improved. The reps were only 10 lbs heavier than the 17s.
