20" Nitto Terra Grapplers

While waiting to order my '14 CRL Summit, I went to Discount to look at getting some more aggressive tires.

I drive about 35k+ a year, and go off road for work weekly and like to off road a every few months with family and friends. In the mud, the stok tires slick up instantly and i have been stuck a few times in my '12 GC. I hope not again.

Talking to my guy at Discount, the best option seemed to be the Nitto Terra Grapplers in the same size as the stock tires. He likes them, says they will last as long if not longer than the stock tires and with offset tread pattern should not be too loud.

Does anybody have experience with these on there GC? Since I drive so much I want to make sure I am not sacrificing road quality, wet traction and noise for the occasional romp in the mud and off roading trip.

Thanks!

maybe 6k or less ,but Ive put ove 15k on another set and still had plenty of meet left on them
Bart you went ahead with the leveling kit?
I've had them on for about 11,000 miles and I really like the tires. They were great in snow this past winter and I have no complaints in the rain or dry conditions. They seem to be wearing well also.

I installed the 20" Terra Grapplers today and I am very happy so far. Smooth, quiet and more aggressive for my off-roading for work. Land vehicle Tire Vehicle Car Automotive tire

h2Obuff,

Are your Nitto's the OEM size or are they 275/55/20?

Thanks! How is the ride compared to the OE Forteras, noise wise and otherwise?
The ride is similar, no real difference in road feel.

Noise is same to very slightly more in some circumstances, but really the noise difference is negligible.

I took them off road yesterday in very sandy condition and they were great, cant wait to try some mud soon and see how they do, I know they will be much better than the stocks (in my '12 i got stuck several times with the Foreras, hence I got the Nitto's this time.)

Tires look great! I am running the Forteras but then change to winter tires for the winter season. I want to avoid the tire change and am hoping the Terra Grapplers perform well enough in snowy conditions. I realize they will not be as good as dedicated winter tries but maybe good enough?
This will be my next set of tires. Cant complain with my current Fortrezas though. No vibrations whatsoever till speeds of 90. Also did very well when it was pouring. No aquaplaning. Although i do agree they might not do well in snow
Forgot to mention that I bought these brand new off a guy from Craigslist, for $650. Just sold my stock Fortera's with just under 13k mile son them for $300.

So I basically got these Nitto's for $350, brand new.
Just FYI for anyone looking at these, you can get brand new, factory size 265-50r20 Terra Grapplers from Tirebuyer.com right now for $638 shipped (before any sales tax). They come up to about $708 for the set and you can get a 10% discount by entering a coupon code. I ordered a set on Monday night, and they are being delivered to my installer this morning, even w/ the free shipping.

Installed, stock size. As I've heard others say, they do appear more aggressive in person. Hard to notice in pictures.

Have only had a chance to drive around town on them so far; honestly haven't noticed any difference from the Forteras noise-wise.

'14 Overland 20in wheels with 265/50 Nitto Terra Grapplers. So far love them, but did go away for the weekend and when I went to drive away I had some pretty decent flatspot related steering wheel shaking as it went away after a few miles. Have jeep recommended 36 psi in them? Anyone using more?

Someone was telling me that nitto terra grapplers don't last long in Colorado... Anyone using them in Colorado year round? If so are they lasting

I've only had mine for a few months and 3000 miles, so I can't comment on long term.

But they still look brand new. You can still see the little rubber injection points sticking out of the sidewalls.

I've taken my jeep off road a few times, the tires did great. The Fortera's would "scuff" on the sidewalls if you hit rocks... these still look brand new.

Thank you
I got the 265 50 20 TG's on before a long road trip to CO and with planned offroading some.. They are really nice. Quiet on road, smooth, excellent grip.. More rubber so a bit less precise or responsive as the forteras, but probably better dry grip. Off road they work well. I did have to rotate them after rebalance failed to get rid of a vib I had at hwy speed, but that fixed it - may have just been how they put wheels on at shop... Overall, I'm very glad I got rid of the OEM's before this trip.
I didn't see an exact OE size for the 20" Nitto Terra Grappler's.
What size are you guys running? (Overland Summit)
