Why can't they build these things without leaks? Keeping water out should be one of the highest priorities from a car manufacturer. I had this problem in my 05 Grand Cherokee Limited and eventually they had to replace with a new sunroof. Thanks for the information Milous.
Interesting where the sunroof drains it dumps into the cowl train and doesn't run all the way to the bottom of the car. I think it also shows all the talk about removing grommets on the bottom panels isn't advised, the problem is not draining those areas but preventing water from getting in there in the first place.

Totally agree with you. Chrysler really needs to work on build quality of its cars and trucks.
It was awful. Trying to drive and I've got water dripping out of the A-Pillar onto my leg. This was right after I bought it brand new.
I've been trying to isolate a possible bad smell (like mold or standing water) somewhere inside my 2012 WK2.

Could a water leak be the cause and what is the best way to bring this up with the dealership?

:(
Had my water leak fixed about a month and a half ago. It was leaking into the back coming from the ceiling about four inches in front of the hatch.

VERY FRUSTRATING. It seems to be fixed now.
yes, got a very bad smell in mine as well. Smells like stale water/moisture.
I just found out my 2012 Overland with the standard sunroof has a leak in that area.

I discovered it while in a carwash. The water seems to be entering from the rear edge of the sunroof. With the sunshade closed, there is nothing to notice. But I had the sunshade open and I felt a drip of water. I felt along the top of the sunshade and discovered it was wet.

I'll be taking it in to have this newest problem fixed.

BTW, I don't see any mention of checking the sunroof area in the TSB above. Is there a seperate one that addresses this kind of leaking problem?
my 10 yr old acura with a sunroof never leaked...no reason why a 2012 should be leaking....i hope mine doesn't..
Anyone has check the spare tire area for water??? That area would be a possibility as it is a carpet and plastic bathtub.
Hello all dont know where to post this but ill try here, any info would be very much appreciated! I just purchased a 2012 jgc loredo x and i have been reading this forum for awhile now trying to see if the issues that the 2011 jgc had been having are resolved in the 2012 models. Also does anyone know if they started giving the true on/off road tires instead of the touring tires with the advt pckg 2? As well as the sluggish acceleration issue? any help would be much appreciated.
Hey guys. I have a 2011 GC and have only noticed one water leaking problem. I think it was from hauling a** through a ~8" water puddle, but i'm not entirely sure. It was about 40ft long and I had the gas to the floor :D. I used to do it all the time in my exploder. Anyway, I heard a slushing sound (water rushing forward) when I applied the breaks at a moderate pressure. Sounded like it was coming from under my driver's seat or above my head. Being lazy, I didn't want to take it to the dealership. I also had ants . So I unbolted my seat, carefully maneuvered it out of the door (but not carefully enough :() and set it on the ground. I popped off the trim around the driver's carpet, and pulled the WET carpet out. I didn't notice the water b/c of rubber floor mats. I pulled out the plastic floor board. There it was, about 4" of water on the inside of the body, under my driver's seat. I pulled the 2 drain plugs and let it drain. Almost like they were expecting water to find it's way there. Its a jeep so some people will treat it like one. anyway, i dried it out with a towel and washed the mildew smelling carpet in the carwash and left it out for a few days to dry. Then Lysoled and febreezed it and replaced. Everything is fine now.

Also, I've taken the back seats and lower rear trim out. The spare tire and shroud, side panels and everything down to the carpet and outside fenders. Everything was dry and had no smell. I had to ditch that crappy sub for a better one. Haven't noticed any other leaks, sorry for rambling, hope my info helps.

Any reports of this on a 2012?
No problems with mine. Although I park in a garage and it hasn't rained in six weeks.
I have a 2012 and I am having a wet condition in the spare tire well. I've checked the TSB that was provided. I'm in the process of drying the area now and will re-check.

I had water leaking thru the grommet located top center of the rear window. It could be leaking there and flowing into your spare area. Put someone inside and hose that area down and look for entry points.;)
On my 2013 apparently the factory didn't apply ehough sealer to the liftgate weaterstripping so I was getting water into the spare tire well. At least that is what the dealer claims they foun.
I'm glad that I didn't get the sunroof option on my 2011 Jeep. I will still check the vehicle for wet carpets etc.
