Hello Everyone, awesome forum!
Ok, first post and it is a doozy of a transmission problem, unfortunately from reading the forum sounds like it is not an uncommon problem.

While returning from vacation (about 300+ miles from home) was merging into traffic and had to hit the brakes since traffic was not letting me over and I was running out of merge lane. Keep in mind I did hit the brakes, but 1) not hard enough to activate ABS and 2) did not even come to a complete stop. Anywho, as I hit the brakes the wife and I feel the car shudder and then I notice the transmission has gone into limp-home mode, displaying 4 on the EVIC. As I finished my merge, I could not get the transmission to downshift or upshift. After a couple of miles driving below the speed of traffic I was able to get off the interstate and to a location I could turn the Jeep off.

After restarting, transmission went back into normal mode, however it had problems shifting (slippage/engine racing) and it never seemed to reach 5th or 6th gear as RPMs on the engine stayed near 3k at roughly 60mph. No check engine light or other warnings. As I drove home in the right lane, I kept checking the trans temp and nothing seemed out of normal. About two hours later after a break, turned Jeep back on and now the check engine light came on. Finally got home later that day. The following Monday took it to my local dealership (not the one I bought it from) and they have had it for a full week yet and still no definitive diagnosis. They opened a case with STAR and as of Friday they started to dismantle the transmission some to get a look inside but still no resolution.

I finally was able to get them to send me the codes:
P0868 – Line pressure low
P0731 – Gear ratio error in 1st
P0944 – Loss of hydraulic pump prime
P0934 – Line pressure sensor circuit low
P0734 – Gear ratio error in 4th
P0218 – Transmission high temperature operation activated
P0841 – LR pressure switch rationality

Oh yeah, and I only have 18k miles on it, all highway. They seem to be taking an inordinate time to diagnose this thing. Any thoughts?

Thank you and sorry for the length of post.

Update: So after 10 days, the Jeep dealership has finally been given the green light to replace the transmission. Supposedly with a factory brand new one. Also, they have agreed to send me the pictures they took of the internals of the broken transmission. I'll post those if they show any obvious damage. So maybe in another week I will finally get my Jeep back.

So after almost 3 weeks, finally got my Jeep back from the dealership. So the final analysis was that the transmission pump failed, which caused the 2C/4C clutch pack to fuse to the retainer.
New transmission has the latest TSB for the shifting issues and let me just say this things drives and shifts so much better than before. Like night and day! If you have not had that TSB (21-006-13) applied, do yourself a favor and get it done.
