Well I know there's been a debate on here about who's faster, CRD or HEMI, this would be my contribution, I went to 80mph just to see how fast it got there. As for 0-60 I time it to be around the 6.6 to 7.0 seconds, its hard to get it dead on with a stop watch but I timed it three times and this was the average.

I have a Diesel tuning box fitted and it was done on a very slight incline.

I would be nice to see what the HEMI's do in real life not factory specs.

Cheers, Rob

What was the weather?
What was the humidity?
How many people in the car?
How much fuel was in the tank?

Too many variables to compare directly against another CRD... never mind a Hemi

Cool video- and nice Jeep 0-60 time, but the non-factory tuning make it hard to really get an idea of how it will do stock. I assume you drove it stock, how much difference is there?

The weather was dry but only around 6C, half a tank of diesel and just me in there, this was just to see what it would do any day of the week, not a special trip to get the best time, just me on my way home from work.

Is it better than a HEMI, if it is then apart from the sound I don't see any advantage of the HEMI, sure mines not stock, its got a £200 tuning box on it which isn't a great deal of money and I'm getting 29mpg.

I'm not looking to start an argument, just if someone if undecided which one to go for this might help.

0-60 times isn't the only criteria when deciding between the CRD and Hemi.

To be honest I'm just curious on how they compare, sure it makes no difference to me as they don't sell them in the UK and I couldn't afford to run one anyway with the mileage I do.

I just wondered what a HEMI's times would be, I'm certainly not knocking the HEMI as I'd have one over the diesel any day, just for the sound but that's the kid in me that wants that, the bank balance would choose diesel.

There is a difference with mid range pull but the throttle response is the biggest noticeable difference, it just seems more eager to go when you give it some, I am still after more power though so when I get some time I'll get a proper map done for her.

We will soon see. I'm sure there will be full road tests on the '14 models soon. So far, there are only "estimates".

Hi SRT Rob, which tuning box do you have?, what settings do you have it on?, and has it thrown an engine light on any of the settings?.
Great vid, might scare some of these Hemi owners ;-).
Thanks Yoda

Hi Yoda, I've got a Bluespark tuning box fitted and its on setting 8 and so far there's been no engine lights on, I might try it on the highest setting just to see if its any better and if any lights show up. The box came on its default setting of 5 and the change to 8 was quite noticeable and the engine seems to be alot smoother.

For the price of the box its good value for the performance increase you get.

Cheers, Rob
