I was just at the dealer today checking out, test driving, and negotiating on a leftover 2013 dark red(actual color name anyone?) Trail Hawk, V-6. I don't want the Hemi. Has Nav, tow package, everything I want. Sticker is $44k and some change. I got them down to $40,350, which they say is below invoice. I am going to check out the invoice here in a bit, as I ran out of time at the dealer. I was offered $28,000 trade in on my '13 Black Forest Green Laredo E V-6 with 9700 miles on it. Opinions? Good deal?

The name of the color is Deep Cherry Red. Based on the prices I've seen in my area (DC area), your deal could be better. I'm not saying it is a bad deal, but I think you could get them lower.

IMO, if there's a trade-in involved, most if not all the time, not a good deal.

What's the KBB value for your car? If they are giving you well above ($1500+) the KBB value, then your deal is pretty good.

KBB trade in value, excellent condition is low $28ish. I'm getting $28,120 trade allowance. Private part value is low $29ish. I'm happy with my trade allowance considering I paid under sticker for it back in Dec. I'm just checking if $600 under invoice is a fair deal for the Trail Hawk. I've tried pretty hard to get them lower. We started at $1000 off sticker.

You're already taking a beating on depreciation on the new one even before buying it.

I wouldn't take that deal.

Go visit another dealer and ask them to transfer the Jeep. They will be able to get it, and will most likely give you a better price (given the price you are getting at the current dealer wouldn't be a great deal even for a 2014). In the end, if you want it, buy it. Don't let go of something you want just because a few people on the internet told you that it isn't a great deal (however, still try to get the best deal you can). Hopefully the dealer transfer (if you decide to try it) works out and you get the Jeep you want at the price you want! :thumbsup:

if u haven't arleady, i would just look at the invoice prices for the 2014 though. At the very least, you can bring this into the dealer armed with the knowledge that you aren't getting "that much" below invoice for a car that they are trying to get rid of in the first place since it's a 13 leftover.

Congrats! Dealer by me had one on the lot for a long time and i kind of kick myself for not going with it. Deep cherry like yours, but with all options and the V8. MSRP was $48k and they had it listed at a little over $40k.

Still debating between the JKU rubicon, 4 runner trail, and a trailhawk. We'll see what 2014 brings. I just hope they dump the air suspension for the trailhawk and put in some real lockers.
