Pat from fields already posted the 3rd quarter production update a couple of weeks ago..... Is there a further delay? The official Chrysler note seemed to be production start July or late June. Is there anything more specific now?

Thx

Sorry would like to know if you have more info than the post below (May 11).

All new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel
Production Start
•Production of the 2014 Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel is currently planned to begin in Q3. Customers will still see a "Late Availability" message in marketing materials until that time.
•Dealer ordering and allocation details will be communicated closer to production start.

I think what he is trying to say is that the "late June" production that has been recently reported is not happening...

Can't say im surprised -- glad I gave up and ordered the HEMI earlier this month :)

Honestly I wouldn't expect diesels on the road or at the dealerships until September at the earliest...

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Late production is one thing. The reason is another. Supplier issues? Demand? Quality issues?

Anyone?

yes....this is in addition to what pat posted. I would expect them early-mid 4th as of now. There are some issues I cant reveal. I tried to be a little optimistic with the title ad first post.

Thanks for the intelligence gathering! Not the news I particularly wanted to hear (as one who has been waiting since last year on CRD release and ordering)...but this info let's me make a better decision for my impending purchase.

May decide to get a nice 2014 Overland 3.6L V6 right away at a group buy price...and let Jeep really work out all of the CRD production issues and dealer support issues in North America during the next few years. Trade it in 3 years or so down the road for the next-generation JGC...

I've been waiting since I first heard about it in 2010 so as long as I get it before my current tires wear out I'm OK.

Eyeballing the 2014 Durango right now.

Trying to figure out if the Hemi is required for the full 4x4 (low range selection) or if the V6 can do it as well.

Figure, I'll look at the CRD for the Grand Wagoneer in a year or two...

Is there really that much difference from the ones they are already building for overseas? I was just wondering because it would seem there wouldn't be much difference other than the emissions stuff?

It's most likely that they know they can sell them like hotcakes in the overseas markets.

Plus, with petrol powered one's selling so well here... why bother shifting production around from petrol to CRD and risk sales?

Once petrol sales cool off and the market is saturated, they could look at rolling out the CRD.

Sounds like it's not just Jeep, but all Chrysler entities are getting jerked around with the CRD stuff.

/shrug

Marketing ploy to get folks in the door it seems.

Sorry "Q3" is too vague for me. Is that July 1 or Sept 15? Can't panic and assume Sept with more slippage to 4th qtr yet. Milous saw the Q3 and thought it was just to give them some wiggle room in case Late June slipped. Not much difference between late June and July 7. Could still be in line for late June early July production. I'm holding out to see what happens next month.

Get a hemi. Pick up a CRD when they have been road tested by other guinea pigs.

Last time I got an actual Chrysler Rep's response he assured me that it would be building by July some time and that I would get some more concrete information on that later in June.

I do believe that of course there are people on here who likely have more bleeding edge info than the factory reps but I agree I think we need to see what June brings. Once the regular orders open up there will be better understanding.

Still a little frustrated :( but I had a good trip with the Durango this weekend 7 Hours driving with 6900 Pounds. I ran premium this time and it felt much better and with slightly better mileage in tow it seemed to be a wash. Still miss the Diesel Torque though!
