I recall seeing a photo of an Eaton S/C mounted on a free standing engine.Aren't we all! I just hope the price doesn't jump another $80k, although, I'm sure it would be worth it with the time invested and performance.

As for LED headlamps, I don't know why they just don't stick exclusively with HID. Though It will be interesting to see how bright they are.

The 3.0 crd VM motor has been in production at the Detroit plant for quite a while already, but have just been sold overseas. The ZF 8 speed will now be added to the turbodiesel for 2013.Big question now is when!!! There were a few subtle hints from Milous that the 2014 may be coming early. In another post he said the Diesels won't start priduction until Feb/March, and I don't see any info about the CRD for MY 2013. If this is the case then the 2014 should be available in April/May.
It was stated somewhere earlier in this thread that none of the 2013 models will have an 8 speed transmission. Maybe the CRD will come as a 2013 with the 5 speed. Even if you can get the Touareg R at dealer cost it will be a lot more than the Jeep....but then again they are a totally different class of vehicle. I'm also going to look at the 2013 Touareg R, coming stateside this fall. 4.2L 8 cylinder Audi turbo deisel, 380 hp and a monstrous 630 lb/ft torque, more than the previous 10 cyl. My cousin is a VW dealer, so can get one at his cost.
