Jeeps aren't necessarily known for fuel efficiency. My 5.7L gets 13-14mpg highway and 8-9mpg city. I'm the original owner and every service has been up to date. EPA numbers were 18 highway and 13 city for mine

Depending on your driving habits that is about right. A lot of people who own them really don't care about the MPG though. I know I don't. But, I'm getting around what it is rated with my 2012. Eventually all vehicles will be made to shut off automatically when you are stopped (which I hate). Between the new tranny and it shutting down cylinders when cruising it makes a difference.

Remember those people claiming to wait for the 8spd for better gas mileage? Or those who purposely put it off for better gas mileage? Uhmmm, yeah. Adding a couple gears isn't going to save any fuel in a 5200lbs+ vehicle with 470hp. There is zero benefit in real world gas mileage and your wallet between the 5spd and 8spd.

I dont think anyone going out and buying a srt is really that concerned about fuel mileage. If that was a concern theyd probably buy a Prius. I waited for the 8 speed because its faster than the 5 speed Im sure Im not the only one that thought that way. The 5 speed was outdated already.

Who cares about the mpg. I get average 10 mpg with my v6 3.7 . I live in brooklyn. So its mostly street and some highway.

For the last 1.5 years around here and the other site, what I stated was a common statement made about the 8spd. Most all of the conversation about it has been for gas mileage purposes. More-so than it being fast. Which, BTW, in real world I will bet the 8spd is not going to be that much faster. Once again, adding a couple gears isn't going to make the same vehicle, with the same weight, and same HP, that much faster. How many times do you see the first mod to add power/speed, by any car person, to be "change the transmission to more gears?"

Its not always power that makes a car faster....adding 3 gears makes a world of difference espescially with a vehicle this size, and the power it makes...

havent seen those posts, and it would surprise me that someone buying a 5000 lb suv with a 6.4L motor would be trying to figure out ways to get better gas mileage, there are many other economical choices (mpg wise) v6, even 5.7. bottom line is dont buy an srt if you are worried about fuel economy.

the 8 speed for me is entirely for performance.The 8 speed made a huge difference in this vehicle IMHO!

Haha. It was long before your time here, lol. One of the biggest complaints of the 2012 was that it didn't have the 8 speed. Back in the spring of 2011.

I agree with those saying SRT owners don't care about fuel milage. And while the 8 speed trany may be an inprovement, I have been enjoying my '12 for almose a year now puting 6k miles on it. 15mpg = 400 gal's x $4:00 gal = $16oo, 20mpg = 300 gal's = $1200, $400 differance woppty shit.

Sorry folks, I thought the GC SRT is in the U.S. have already been delivered and driven. I guess I was a little impatient. It's kind of love at first sight! And since you want to know more then!

With my 2014 GC with the v6 im getting only 13-14 mpg combined when they thought i might get more like 19. given im doing mostly city ish driving, but still. So make the same comparison of wrong numbers to the str8 it could be like 10 mpg.
