Hey Everyone,

So I have had my SRT for a day now, and already have 360 miles! I made the drive from Detroit to Chicago yesterday so it was a great way to experience the car for the first time. Because I had to use the highway right away I was sure to vary the RPM as much as possible.... and a few long redline sweepers kept me smiling!! I must say, smoothest highway cruiser i have driven. I am have had many Audi sedans before this. Great work Chrysler!

Anyways, shortly after I got on the road in traffic i noticed a relatively loud whistling sound coming from under the vehicle while decelerating from anywhere between 60 to 34 mph. It is pretty pronounced and does not change when I select a different select-track mode or a lower/higher gear. It seems as though it is coming from the driveshaft although i cant be sure. Once I tap the gas, even ever so slightly, it goes away and then comes right back. (obviously not a wind noise)

I spoke with a Chrysler rep and they have had a small handful of these reports come in this week. They are on it and trying to do some R&D although I thought id see in any other members on here have experienced something similar. Give it a try next time you are driving. It is most noticeable at 45(ish) mph while coasting with no gas or brake.

Other than that I am really enjoying the car. I do hope it gets a little quicker with age...mine only showed at 5.2 when I did my one and only 0-60 late last night.

I just drove home my new Cherokee SRt. Same whinning/whistle whe I take my foot off the gas
Report it to SRT immediately. Me and a few others have this and they just relized the problem this week. Turns out the engineers found a group of CV joints were machines improperly and are sending new ones to my dealer to have them swapped. Once you make the report they will take care of you.

I just got on the highway for the first time today as well. I also noticed the noise.

@14SRT - have you had the repair done yet? If so, how long does it take?

Just got off the phone with SRT Customer Service - she said she would have to do some more research and will get back to me in a few hours. We'll see how it goes . . .

My dealership when I purchased the vehicle 2 weeks ago screwed up my paint by putting something besides tire shine on my tires. so it sprayed what they think to be engine degreaser down both sides of my truck. So they wanted to repaint the whole truck and I said not a chance. So luckily 2 days ago they got another white one in and we did a straight trade and I got it today. VERY weird situation lol. The detail guy is most likely out of a job lol

Mine has been the shop for 5 day, the shop and Detroit SRT are all over this problem. All 3 at my dealer I was told make the noise. They think they have isolated to the front drive shaft which there are no replacements available now. My question to Denise at SRT and my dealer is have the engineers made a design change in the new drive shaft they plan on installing in my SRT?? No one could answer that for me yet. My dealer proposed he is ordering 3 new drive shafts will install one on his stock SRT and see if it solves the problem before having me come back in.

Thanks, please keep us posted . . . I'm not going to waste my time or be w/o my truck for 5 days until the issue is discovered and fixed.

My jeep hit shipping this week. I wonder if there has been enough time where the engineering team caught the issue and didn't kick out cars with similiar problems?
