Randomly when I press the start button to turn the engine on it takes several seconds to turn over and start. Most of the time it fires up normally, but this hard starting occurs maybe every 5th to 10th time. This is a brand new 2014 Overland V6 with 600 miles on it.

I've checked the grounding wire, it is firmly attached. I found most of the fuses to be not all the way pushed in, but the problem still persists.

Any other suggestions to check before bringing it in? I do hear short durations of a small electric motor/actuator sound when the Jeep is parked in my garage and turned-off. Not sure if this is the air suspension checking itself or something else. It seems to be coming from the component that is mounted just behind the front bumper on the passenger side.

Have not had a similar starting issue, but the short duration sounds you hear while parked are from the air suspension system. It is mentioned in the manual.

When you start the car, do you just hold the start button until it starts?

You could try pressing the start button twice until it is in ACC mode, but not start the engine. Once the gauges have cycled and the beeps stop, you can press start again to start the car. This allows the fuel system to pressurize before cranking the engine.

If you symptom goes away, it could indicate that your fuel system is bleeding down more than normal, perhaps a problem with the fuel pump itself.

Of course, there is always the possibility of bad gas, so you might want to change fuel stations. Do you run regular 87 or that E85 stuff?

Thanks for the suggestions Mike.

I press and release the button to start. We have only filled up 2x since we bought it, and the dealer added 10ga of unknown quality of gas when we picked it up. So maybe it is bad gas. We only use reg 87.

I'll keep an eye on it and hopefully it goes away.
