Before I start this rant, I want to say that I love this car. I really do - but recently I've been surprised that my leather dash has started bubbling up and separating, and I see on this page that it is a known and common problem. I can tell it's getting worse by the day, looks terrible, and is killing the value of the car.
Long story short, the dealership tells me I'm S.O.L. on warranty repairs (72k miles) and the bill to fix will be around $1,200. They told me to call @JeepCares to request a warranty fix. @JeepCares did not provide any help, told me to take it back to the dealer and have them submit photos. Did this today, dealer says it is clearly a manufacturing defect at is happening at no fault of my own, and stated such in paperwork. I called @JeepCares yet again, and they tell me there is nothing they can do to help or fix, even though I did what they asked me to do and the dealership stated it's a defect.
I'm really, really shocked and disappointed that Chrysler/Jeep would pass on the $1200 cost of a manufacturer defect to their end consumer. For a 4 year old luxury SUV, to not stand behind the product and workmanship, and tell me I'm on my own to fix a problem they created is astonishing to me. This will absolutely dismay me from purchasing another Chrysler product (I was a Grand Cherokee guy for life - not anymore, and I really wanted to buy the new GC) and I will make sure everyone I know is aware as well
Just terrible. There are way too many options out there to deal with a company that treats their customers like this.
