same noise, 50% of the time, 3k miles on 2018 overland 4wd. also have a longer than normal crank start issue, weirdly not as frequent in past couple weeks.

im chalking it up to "normal" but i will make a mention of it at my first service.

Hello everyone,

I know this is a bit of an old thread, but I wanted to see if anyone has discovered any information about this. I have a 2019 Upland with about 1000 miles and I get this same exact noise as OP on about 80% of startups. It's currently warm out so can't relate it to a cold weather start. Any information would be helpful.

Sounds like the starter spinning down and the "loose" parts singing.

33k miles and mine still does it. Good thing it is a lease that is up in May.
