I have a Trailhawk on factory order w/ 3.2L, tech + convenience/comfort + UConnect packages. Questions:

> How are the navigation system maps, poi, etc. updated? Through UConnect monthly subscription? Sales guy says "Through satellites, no UConnnect subscription required." Really?

> With the UConnect 8.4AN, is there an app that allows the .PDF owners manual to be viewed in the vehicle from USB or SD media storage?

The downloaded manuals didn't seem to directly answer these question and a thread search didn't turn up anything on these ?s.

TIA,

The updates are performed VIA USB or cellular. I don't think you need the UConnect Subscritpion to do it. With this system Chrysler has the ability to push down Uconnect software updates.

Not that I am aware of, but that would be a great app to have. The Owners manual at your finger tips.

RE: user manual - If you are the original owner of the vehicle you can request a real owner's manual to keep in the vehicle( free ). Info should be in the user guide or just have the selling dealer get you one.

RE: Map udpates - in the past the updates came out infrequently and were on CD's. I am curious how they will handle them on these new systems too. Probably USB as the member above said. I wonder if they will be as expensive still? Probably even more so.

Thanks Guys,

It appears as if the Nav system update through satellite (per my Jeep sales person) is not true, but that UConnect subscription may not be required.

Yes, paper owners manuals are available, but I'd rather not dedicate the space to carrying around dead trees if there's an alternative. I have the .PDF owners manuals on my phone, my tablet and laptop, but being on the UConnect 8.4 AN would be marvelous if it can be done. Then my wife could read the manuals while I drive!!!

You could let her read it from your tablet. ;)
I also have the stored in a cloud drive ... just because I can.

The real pita with paper manuals is they are somewhat obsolete by the time you get them. The OM is already up to ver 5, and still has errors.
