Nearby in the woods (yes, driving in the woods) they are laying a new 30" water main. The soil is sand and they are backfilling with builders sand. So a nice place on the holiday to see what could happen in deep sand:

Drove in slowly, turned wheels sharply applied power- each corner went down about to what serves as "axles" on this vehicle. Selected sand mode, a little reverse rock, straightened wheels, then selected drive and it walked right out like driving into a garage. Nice. I believe after the newness thing is over this Cherokee will earn its keep.

Actually it is one of those vehicles that keeps getting better as it is driven.

We took a short drive in the sand on the Arizona side of the Colorado River off Route 66. The Cherokee Trailhawk with the stock Firestone Destination ATs in Sand mode had no problem. My wife was driving and enjoyed the section of deep sand where she had to give it some gas to keep the momentum! We didn't stay long 'cause someone was firing a gun nearby and we didn't see the person nor the direction of the bullets.

Have to say I would be some ticked off at you if I was on that job site. ;)
