I guess that's good for PR.
Looks like a free gas tank skid plate for all.

FWIW, according the the USA today article the recall remedy does not need to be covered by the manufacturer if the vehicle is more than 10 years out from its original in service date. You might be out of luck for a free hitch.Disappointed with Sergio giving in.
Yes, I have a 1999 GC under the recall.
Yes, I read Chrysler's White Paper and looked at the data and charts.
These vehicles were built to standards and common practice of the day. I think it's ridiculous that they are recalling 15-20 year old vehicles.
We all pay for this in new vehicle prices that are increased to pay for this and frivolous lawsuits.
Just my 2 cents.
Not sure that is true, They were doing Recalls on Fiero Engine fires still in 1997 and the last year that car was built was 88 (all of them still qualified)FWIW, according the the USA today article the recall remedy does not need to be covered by the manufacturer if the vehicle is more than 10 years out from its original in service date. Yeah, it was in the USA today, so not sure if it is 100% accurate... But I did literally stay in a holiday inn last night (and again tonight... )Not sure that is true, They were doing Recalls on Fiero Engine fires still in 1997 and the last year that car was built was 88 (all of them still qualified)

They didn't have to go beyond ten years but they are. The 1999 to 2004 grand Cherokees are only getting hitches if they have an aftermarket one now. If they don't have a hitch at all they are staying that way. The 1993 to 1998 are getting mopar hitches for free if either they don't have one or if they have an aftermarket one. The Liberty's are also being treated the same way as the 1993 to 1998 Grand Cherokee's. The repair is the hitch there is not extra reinforcement beyond this. It sounds like a fair deal at least if noting else the 2 groups get a free hitch out of it.FWIW, according the the USA today article the recall remedy does not need to be covered by the manufacturer if the vehicle is more than 10 years out from its original in service date.
