these seats hands down are much more comfortable than the laredos. more firm so the cushion foam used in them has got to be different. i did a 5 hour round trip a couple weeks ago, the same one ive done before with laredo seats and these are noticeably different. sure it could be that they are newer but i think its more than that. really less fatigue after this drive. family has said the same on the passenger side as well and that seat had low miles on it.

CD / DVD / VES connectors. IP mating and center console inline. as you can see in the 1st pic the ip mating is short a few pins. no luck sourcing the an ip wire harness from 8.4 to console inline. so looks like ill have to fabricate a custom harness. as mentioned the dealer has activated the modules since the dvd install (the buttons show up under media on the 8.4 i.e. DVD / HDMI) and said we need a 'Can Bus" connection. Question is how many circuits need to be wired to achieve this. Anyone with knowledge please chime in! My initial thought are X541, X542 and X543 should do the trick. as stated ANYONE who has some knowledge on this please chime in

worth noting is the Blu Ray player has power...i.e. it will except and eject a disc that is inserted

Looks like a great project. Were they able to activate the ventilated seats as well for you?

Looking to pick up a set of ventilated trailhawk seats so I'm wondering how plug and play it is after dealer coding.

I have a 2014 limited with heated front and rear seats btw.

no. the ventilated option did not pop up on via WiTech...however i do believe i verified the body wire harness has the correct wiring that matched up with these seats. ill ask again in another 5K miles..lol

yours is a Ltd model & vented seats were a factory available option so i would assume the dealer "should" be able to activate. Very easy for the service writer to check when you go in for an oil change...under "dealer installed options". however if the modules arent present in the vehicle the option might not pop up.

you shouldn't have to activate modules for the heat elements to work for front or rear, should be plug and play. do all trailhawks come with the rear heated seats?

caveat emptor - i would subscribe to the 3 day TechAthority subscription to verify the wiring for the 2017 seats is compatible with the 2014 body harness...I dont see why it wouldnt be but better to be out $30 vs $1000. Take a picture of your body wiring harness where it connects to the seats and use the PDF file attached to verify (see B11 & B12) the wiring for vent option

go into it with the thought of "no" the ventilated seats wont work and if they do its a bonus. those were my thoughts with the DVD screens im still working on trying to activate - still happy either way

Wait. Just to be clear. You put srt seats in a Laredo E and it was plug and play all the dealer had to do was activate the sales code? I assume you also upgraded to auto climate control? I have a 11 Laredo E with this exact setup.

i put MY 14 Summit seats in a MY 14 Laredo E and yes it was plug and play. Dealer reprogramed 8.4 with "dealer installed" options i.e heated seats and rear VES.

MY 11 and MY 14 seats are "probably" non-compatible, i will assume the body wiring harness / seat wiring is different. heated seats in a MY 11 would have physical buttons to activate the heating elements if im not mistaken vs via touch screen on MY 14 and newer. use TechAthority to verify

Ive also installed a Blu Ray player from a durango and the modules are visable on the dealers WiTech. I just need figure out some more wiring to get those to work.

since last posting i have also picked up a MY 15 overland body wiring harness. im going to remove the rear heated seat wiring from that harness and add to my laredo to power the rear heated seats...45lbs of wires and connector lol

this is the harness you need..connects to DVD player, seats and ip. its one big snake of a piece

best way to source this is from a dismantler. i did not have any luck trying to buy it from the dealer parts department.

attached are pics of the seat and player connectors for more of a real life look. if you look under your seats you'll see exactly where these hook up. hope that helps

Hey I have purchased a set of Limited seats for my Laredo E w/ Uconnect. If I’m reading you right, all I need to do is plug them up and have the dealer activate the switches in the uconnect?

Heya, onlyina. I've been following this thread of yours and also the one for your MY11.

I have already swapped my manual HVAC for auto HVAC with heated seat buttons (I have a 2012 Laredo E). I got front and rear leather seats, with only heated being up front. My factory seats are manual cloth.

I have already bought part 68086457AA https://www.moparpartsoverstock.com/p/__/WIRING-Power-Seat/10127715/68086457AB.html
(It's the 2nd photo that is a black and white photo of thick cluster wires)

I know based on other threads that the 8-way power for both front seats is PnP, but obviously not the heated. I believe I have determined that replacing the ENTIRE instrument panel harness which is like $600 is not needed. Maybe I am wrong? I hope not...

What else will I need to get front seat heat pads working with the dash buttons from the auto HVAC? On that part link I gave you, it also shows other wires that are mostly just a single wire with a plug at each end. Are those the wires already inside the seats or something extra I need?

sorry for the late reply...i can only speak to the MY14-17 that uses the 8.4 to run the individual modules throughout the jeep. im unfamiliar with the wiring for the 1st gen WK2's

You can quickly compare the wires from the body harness on your jeep and those on the heated seats you installed to see if the colors and pins match up.

If they do, sign up for a 3 day Tech Authority subscription and study the wiring diagrams, specifically the body / console harness of your jeep and a comparable one that has heated front seats i.e. a Laredo X. From there you should be able to figure out what the Laredo X has that your E doesn't to make those seats work. Also check your fuse box to confirm a heated seat fuse is present

im 99.9% sure the LaredoX and LaredoE share the same body harness

correct. via WiTech under dealer installed options.

MY14/15 seat wiring is different than MY16/17 so make sure you get seats that match your MY jeep. I rewired my MY14 summit seat pins to work in my MY17 so it can be done but its very tedious

Hi Onlyina,

I installed MY2016 Limited heated and ventilated front/rear seats into our MY2015 Laredo. You stated the MY14/15 and MY16/17 wiring is different? Bummer.

When the dealer tried to add the sales codes (JPM for the front heated seats and CAJ for the ventilated seats), the only code that showed up on the WiTech screen as an option to install was JPM (described as Mopar Accessory Heated Seats). After adding the code JPM and rebooting the system, the HSM module did appear in the WiTech, but it also threw 7 DTCs. Some of the codes were: left rear seat heater open circuit, right rear seat heater open circuit, etc. Of course these were open circuits since I did not replace the rest of the wiring harness to be able to hook up the rear seat heaters, but the sales code JPM is supposed to be just heated front seats. The code JPZ is for second row heated seats and the code NHS is for heated steering wheel. We didn't enter those codes since they were not in the list of possible choices. Also, there was no choice for code CAJ for the ventilated seats.

Did your dealer do anything before using the WiTech to program the vehicle? Also, after the HSM module showed up in the WiTech system, we checked in the vehicle and on the 8.4 Uconnect system, the controls did not appear for the seats. Did you dealer do an additonal set to reprogram the Uconnect system?

Thanks for any input you can provide.

Ps. If I cannot get the ventilated seats to show up, I'll probably just add switches on the side of the seat base to power to ventilator fans.
