Between these 3 posts and another half a dozen dedicated to Limited vs. Overland, plus the 8 dedicated to the type of fuel and the 6 dedicated to fuel economy, you will figure out that the cars are pretty different in many key areas. And a 2014 Limited might just be as expensive as a 2013 Overland - but with some upgrades. You should probably start with a budget then work out what sort of options and upgrade packages are important to you.

Simi...the folks here are very helpful. Welcome to the board! It seems the search key is a sore spot around here. I find it a double edge sword in that there is so much information that the search yields so many results it is hard to get the answer.

If you ask my opinion, with all things being almost equal or debatable, I would always go for the later model year. I went with the 2014 Limited.

It depends on how you're planning on equipping the Limited. If you're getting lux II, I'd say the Limited. Unless you can score a stellar deal on the 2013. You'd be able to recoup the cost difference on resale even if the 2014 is slightly more expensive.

...oh and to answer your concern on UConnect...this is 3rd generation stuff in more platforms than the WK2. It is my belief that any issues will most certainly be worked out. Software is not typically a huge cause for concern and will be developed as commonality of issues is mapped.....

I had to make the same decision either a 2013 Overland or 2014 Limited. Both same color and engine, and they were very close to the same price. I chose the 2014 limited because of the 8.4na, 8 speed tranny and I wanted the newer model.

I bought 2014 limited. Hands down. The Uconnect is awesome. We have had no issues, none, nada one with pairing all kinds of devices easily.

Amazing technology update in this vehicle.

I feel like this is the most sophisticated vehicle of all we looked at and it is, in additon, the best looking mid size SUV out there.

That 8 speed tranny with the V6 is awesome. If you go with a 2013, you have to get the v8 to feel as good. I did not want the V8. The V6 is slick.

I haven't pulled the trigger on a '14 Limited yet. I have the V6 '12 Limited. Great vehicle but the 5 speed is the weakest part of the package. No question the 8 speed which I test drove recently transforms the drivetrain. Now I'm just waiting for the TSB's that tackle the minor gremlins and then good to go on the '14.

It's almost scary and tempting at how low some folks hee have gotten the MY13s that you may even get up to $10K off of an Overland/Summit (I'm guessing here). But as most have said, I too am in the same boat at some point, the tech glitches on the radio will get worked out and that the upgrades (TFT dash screen, 8-speed tranny, RA3/4 radio) along with LuxII on the Limited have made many lean on the MY14 Limited over the MY13 Overland. I think I've only read a few that have gone to a MY13 simply because of the great deal they got that they couldn't pass on it-which would be the case is $$$ is an issue. If you look at the issues folks are having with the MY14, most are Uconnect related which should be resolved soon(hopefully)

I was weary of getting the MY14 as a first "refresh" over the MY11-13 where the issues have been worked out. But at the end of the day, I will be getting the truck that I will be purchasing and hoping to keep for several years so will be going with the newer model (eventually). GOOD LUCK! (Can't go wrong with either model IMO)

We are very happy with it! We paired two iphone 5's with no problems, the home link was easy to set up, we have had zero problems. For a while we thought we had a problem with the radio loosing info be we figured out that all of the settings are linked with the seat settings. My wife set everything while she was in the drivers seat and when I used my seat settings it was all gone. I set everything with my seat setting and it's been flawless!

I wonder if this could be the solution to some of the issues some are having with the radio and phone pairing???

Hello and welcome.

As you can tell from my post count, I am also new. As the author of one of the threads linked, I can give you my perspective after a few weeks of debating over the exact same thing.

As others mentioned, I would not consider a V6 from the 11'-13' models as the transmission does not do the Pentastar justice. If you are considering this MY, you need to consider the V8.

Now engine sizes aside, I have made up my mind and am going with a 14' Limited or wait and save a little more for a 14' Overland. I think the newer stereo, newer gauges, newer front end and rear end as well as transmission are all things I will appreciate more than saddle interior (my biggest reason to get an Overland). I think everytime i would see a 14', I would regret my decision if I went with a 11'-13', even if it saved me a few bucks. But I am of the opinion that all of these changes are improvements, not all share the same sentiment. I especially like the LED DRLs but need to get a Limited w/ Lux II or Overland to get em.

Just pulled the trigger on 2013 Overland V6 (mineral gray). Pretty good deal @ $41,234. Got good trade in value as well $16,000 for 2004 4runner sport with 55,600 miles. The strength of Toyota. Couldn't pass up the awesome Jeep this time however. Preferred it to a 2014 Limited. Hope it's as reliable as the 4runner.
