I have a little over 3,000 miles now and it hasn't used a drop of oil. I'm a little shocked as it's the only car I've ever had that hasn't used a little during the first few thousand miles. Even the manual said it could so I'm pleasantly surprised.

It is the first car I've had with a different break in procedure with the manual saying to floor it a few times after the first 60 miles. Perhaps that really did seat the rings nicely.

Great to hear! I have not checked mine yet, but I haven't noticed any smoke on start-up. The one I test drove on the dealer lot did though - made me a bit nervous.

As far as break-in, not sure where in the manual it says to floor it from time to time, but this is what my manual says:

A long break-in period is not required for the engine and drivetrain (transmission and axle) in your vehicle. Drive moderately during the first 300 miles (500 km). After the initial 60 miles (100 km), speeds up to 50 or
55 mph (80 or 90 km/h) are desirable. While cruising, brief full-throttle acceleration within the limits of local traffic laws contributes to a good break-in. Wide-open throttle acceleration in low gear can be detrimental
and should be avoided.

Since you have 3k miles and aren't loosing any oil, I'd say whatever you did worked. To be honest, I think these newer motors with super tight tolerances can take normal driving habits day 1. I think the few miles that are on the car before you take delivery have already done a majority of seating the rings.

I was paraphrasing this part "While cruising, brief full-throttle acceleration...". I'm not sure when the rings get fully seated but figured it couldn't hurt to follow the manual.
