Ok jeepsters if you can please help out i appreciate it. So the problem is my back-up Camera just does not work anymore. I put it in reverse and just a black screen. When the problem first started happening it would happen every so often but now just dosent want to work at all. When i took the jeep in to get some recall repairs i had them re-flash the computer thinking maybe it would reboot the system. But they said they couldent re-flash the computer because the tipm now ive read about the tipm problems with my year jeep (2011 jgc limited) now i have not had any problems with the tipm besides this. Now if you guys could please give me your advice i would greatly appreciate it alot. I have tried doing research this problem everywhere and cant find a solution. Please let me know if this does sound llike a tipm problem or something else thank you

I am not sure what the tipm has to do with the rear camera and the BCM flash, but I've heard stranger things.

My *guess* is that you are not getting power to the rear camera - leading you to get the black screen when shifting into reverse.

First - I would inspect the fuse link that the camera is on. There may be an intermittent connection there that works itself loose from time to time; and now your fuse may have worked itself all the way from the secure connection it once had. Speculating, but that is my first guess...

Good luck!
Thank For your reply and helping me solve this situation. By any chance do you know what fuse the back up camera uses. Should i just replace the fuse or should i start looking for a lose connection somewhere else. Thank you again.

My guess is it's not a power issue so much as a camera sensor failure. Without a powered source attached, most video monitors will display blue, not black. The black screen usually occurs when power and a video signal are received, but the sensor on the camera itself isn't providing an image.

However, your suggestion of checking the fuse would be an easy way to tell. If you pull the fuse, it ought to go to blue if what I stated is indeed the case for the dash unit. If that happens, it's the camera, not the power supply.

On the other hand, if the system doesn't have a "no signal to blue screen" function, then you'll be able to check the fuse at that point to see if it's bad or not.

The next step is checking the camera itself. Mine often fogs over in the rain and I really wonder how weather resistant they really are.
I was gonna go get a fuse later today and try replacing it to see what happens.
Have you tried removing the stereo and checking the connection at the back? I have some pictures of the camera plug in my rear view camera install thread.http://www.jeepgarage.org/f155/install-of-factory-rear-view-camera-2011-wk2-66603.html

Next plug after the stereo is in the liftgate, then if not that, must be the camera. Though I suppose it could be the stereo too..

Good luck!

I had the same issue with my MY2014 Grand Cherokee Laredo. The reverse camera simple stopped working and problem coincided with me blowing the 20A cigarette lighter fuse (Fuse F93 in the fuse panel under the bonnet/hood/engine bay) when using the cigarette lighter to run a 12V to 240V inverter to charge my laptop battery. The inverter current draw was too much. Hope this helps.

So did you figure out he problem? This evening my 2012 Jeep started displaying a black screen when in reverse.

My backup camera stopped working one morning randomly. After reading this thread I followed marke01927's suggestion of checking out the 12v's. Earlier that weekend I plugged in an extra phone charger in the center console. I unplugged both chargers shut off the car let it sit for 5 min and restarted. I don't know if it was related to the 12v's but now my backup camera is working again.

Hope this helps :)
I was able to determine the problem. The connection in the rear liftgate where the Camera wires plug into (white plastic connection) was burnt out / shorted. The mechanic cut the connector and hard-wired the camera. All is good.
I just reset the relay on my 2015 Cherokee latitude now my camera is working.
When i took the jeep in to get some recall repairs i had them re-flash the computer ...
Did you specifically ask them to check the camera? Seems to me that with the car in their hands they could 'guess' better than anyone.

Replacing the 10 amp fuse (M34) took care of the back up camera problem. The manual lists the 20 amp (M14) incorrectly as the back up camera fuse.

nope. Of you pull the fuse for the camera. You never get a blue screen. This entire thing is false
I'm having a major issue with my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee the back up camera screen comes in and out and it's going wild. Not sure if it's the camera or the wiring. I have had the car for less than a month. What should I do? I have a video of it but couldn't upload it here.

Please help me
