I also have this issue! My Jeep is a 2018 and I went to the dealership and they said it would not be covered under warranty. It’s very unsafe to drive because it’s distracting with all the ghost touches. I often can’t set my AC/climate the way I need to, it calls people off my phone, it ends navigation directions mid-route. I’m in Houston so I’m sure it’s the heat/humidity. Did anyone actually have to pay $2000 to replace it? That seems so ridiculous. It’s Jeep’s faulty screens that caused this, and not any normal wear and tear from car usage. @JeepCares
I'm very sorry to hear this. Have you had a case open for this concern? If not, I would be happy to help! Please send us a private message.

I have the same issue with my 2018 Grand Cherokee With only 22,000 miles on it. A tiny “bubble” started last week and now is almost all the way across my screen. I’m hoping the warranty will cover it!

I am experiencing the same problem on my 2018 grand Cherokee altitude and I just passed my warranty unfortunately. @JeepCares is there anything you can help with especially considering this seems to be a common issue? The ghost selections have become quite an annoying and constant problem.

My screen is also starting to bubble.. I went to the dealership and I am 3,000 miles past warranty! What can I do ? I refuse to pay that much to have it fixed. Jeep knows it's an on going problem they should replace all the screens. Help

Hi @JeepCares

I am having the same problem and my 2018 is out of warranty. Can you put me in contact with a uconnect specialist as it is still under the 3 year mark just over the milage and this is a defect.

@JeepCares Hello, my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee High Altitude developed the bubble in the screen a couple weeks ago, and is growing everyday in size. I called the recall center in the owners manual, and they told me they couldn’t help me with my issue because “the problem isn’t associated with my type of vehicle”... which doesn’t make sense since my Jeep is clearly having the same issue as the other vehicles with the screen problems (Dodge Challengers, Chargers, etc.)... how do I go about fixing this because the dealership is telling me I have to pay $900 to get it fixed since I’m out of warranty with 70k miles. I don’t think it’s fair to pay that much for a known defect with the touch screen radios.

I have a 2017 Jeep Compass and there is a bubble that has formed in the screen of my radio display. I can’t even turn the display on because it will push random buttons changing the music constantly. It will even call people if my phone is connected. Is there a recall on this issue? It looks like it is a very common issue and my local Jeep dealership said it will cost over $1200 to replace.

2018 Grand Cherokee. Houston based. Small bubble started last week, now across the width of screen. Visited the dealer today. Thankfully I’m still within warranty but I’m really concerned this will be an expensive repeat problem in 2 years time. Service agent took less than 5 seconds to diagnose the issue - she told me she sees this problem every single day. Replacement part is on 3-4 weeks back order. Surely this must be a recall case? I love my Jeep but if this problem reoccurs in 2 years time then I will be an ex-customer.

I am having a similar issue with my Grand Cherokee. Was the only solution to replace the entire radio system or can I just replace the screen?

Hi,

There is a replacement screen made by LG that can be used to repair. The item number is la084x01-sl01 (if yours is a 2018 or 2019) and is pretty hard to find but can be ordered from eBay (China) or a few other places. It's about $250 and you will have to diy. The only fix from the dealership is to replace the entire radio.

Mine looks just like this. Looks like you took a picture of my screen. They should replace everyone’s screens.
My Jeep is a 2018 it's still under factory warranty. Bringing it in Sept 30th (I'll keep everyone updated)
