Hey guys,

I am thinking of starting with a 05 fully loaded limited then building a 6.4l stroker with an srt bumper and the roll bars from an srt. Total for this is 3690. Other option is pay 6000 more and get an srt 6.1 then adding elsds for 9000 more. I don't want to Lower my 5.7. I can always add srt wheels and tires for 200 more I got a guy willing to trade for my wheels and tires. The way I see it is more Hp, less money, dual speed transfer case, and higher resale for custom car. I know it's messy but I get the pride of building it myself. I have figured out the prices already. Win win win what do you guys think?

Im not sure how well the 5.7 transfercase and trans will hold up to the power. I know even the SRT trans is rated at 500hp i believe, and with a 6.4 stroker you should be beyond that so you will need maybe a SHR NAG1 trans.

I have heard the transfer cases are really strong so I am hoping that's not a problem. According to chryslers naming scheme the 5-45rfe should handle 500 ft lbs of torque so if the brand new 6.4l srt is putting out 465 lbs with a stock 5.7 upper end i should be around 450. Correct me if I am wrong please.

You could go with something like a 224/224 cam and put more power out. But it won't be as daily driver friendly.

Yeah a 224/224 would be a more aggressive cam, but this will be my daily driver. With the 224 I will lose a lot of my low end torque and I do plan to take off the bumper sometimes and go off road, so I would like to keep some of the power down low, since I do have quadra drive 2. The 224 will also generate more power which I'm not sure my trans will like. I'm hoping I can really achieve something that has a lot of power and I can take off road with just a few modifications. Do you think this is a pretty good option versus buying an srt8? Or is there something I'm not seeing?

I dont know if you will see power numbers like an srt but you should have a good sloid motor. But you still might want to have your trans double checked, make sure nothing is wrong or worn. The last thing you want is to finish the motor and take if for a ride and smoke the trans. With numbers around 350 you should be fine.

Around 350 Hp? The stock 5.7l makes 335 so with the stroker I should be around 450, but I think I will definitely be above a stock wk 1 srt8, right? Also, is the intake manifold between the 5.7 and the 6.4 from the factory the same or atleast very similar? They look the same.

I was meaning 350 to the wheels, it all depends on your combination of pistons, crank, heads, cams, and everything else. I'm not sure about the intake's being the same. What do you plan on doing to the heads?

I have heard the heads on these engines are pretty good, so I don't plan on doing much but maybe down the line I will port and polish the exhaust ports. I wil swap in the 6.1l springs and possibly the pushrods though. I am hoping for 400 to the wheels 50 Hp loss through drive train.

get the black srt replica rims, they're pretty nice. they are heavier though

Yes! exactly what i was looking for. I have the moduflex wheels so I will black those out and paint my calipers. Is your jeep lowered to srt8 height or is that stock height? The last owner on my jeep just put on brand new tires so I am reluctant to change those. Why waste perfectly good tires? Maybe later down the line I will swap them. How much did you buy your bumper for? Have you done something with your headlights, they look nice?

Looks to be lowered and if I'm correct he has the Stillen headlight covers.

It's stock height. I guess the angle of the picture throws it off. Those are stillens, and I bought the bumper on eBay for $400 shipped

I had someone on craigslist who was going to sell me the front original bumper for 350 but he ended up selling it to someone else. I found one for 399 plus 200 dollars shipping on ebay, but its made of fiberglass, so I am not sure if its any good. What do you guys think?
