Whatever the reason for the delayed production of the CRD, I am starting to suspect that this is going to be a whole PR mess for Chrysler.

First, Chrysler has been pumping publicity about the engine since last year.

Second, Chrysler already gave the journalists a test drive a few months ago; most of them giving great reviews.

Third, the non-CRD 2014 models have already been streaming into the dealers' lots.

Fourth, a high Chrysler executive has announced that the CRD will be available to purchase in weeks.

At least with Apple, you know when you'll start lining up in front of the stores. This constant rumors and delays will just turn potential CRD customers to other products. Add the "short run" rumor to the mix and people will start feeling disgusted.

Huh, maybe they actually want customers to clear up the Hemi inventory?

As for me, the Ford Explorer and MB 350 are looking nicer and nicer.

Yea its been a tough day for CRD fans :(

I'm holding out hope this is just some sort of start-up confusion but agree they should all get on the same page on this thing and manage expectations and their messaging.

Yep, I guess I'm a glutton for punishment, I waited a month for the stupid iphone, and now I'm waiting for the crd. I'll give this another month and reevaluate?

Forgetting about the obvious differences between a vehicle (with all the attendant Federal regulations) and a cell phone (or, personal cummunications device), bad timing that you decided to complain on the very same day that Motor Trend released their first drive test of the CRD.

Assuming Jeep had some sort of embargo on publishing this, Jeep must have lifted the embargo. Does that mean the CRDs are closer to hitting dealerships?

Actually, I came here looking for V8 0-60 info. MT gets the CRD 0-60 in 7.8 (the youtube guys got 7.7 at the press intro), so that's pretty good. It looks like the CRD is quicker to 60 than the 5/6 speed Hemis. I wonder how much the 8 speed will improve the Hemi's acceleration.

I bought a 2014 V6 limited. I wanted the CRD but didn't have patients to wait another 4 months for it.

I'm confused. When the '14 was introduced, Jeep said no CRD orders until mid-late April. You should have expected a late introduction of the CRD because that's exactly what Jeep said.

If you really wanted the CRD, you should have waited. Now, you'll end wondering if you bought the wrong vehicle every time you get in it.

My 2011 Hemi gets 0-60 from 6.5-6.9.
