Less than a year ago, spotting a vehicle with black wheels or black chrome trim was almost nonexistent. (At least here in Colorado) Now huge numbers of cars and trucks of all kinds and all ages are showing up with blacked out trim and wheels.
So why, and what happened? What is your opinion regarding this trend? Will customizing with non-factory changes like this hurt resale values, or add value? Is this a fad like vinyl tops and gold packages?
Jeep offers factory chrome packages, but also special editions with black wheels and trim. Obviously there are buyers for both looks.
What's your opinion? And why?
