Hey guys, just had a quick couple of questions concering my 01 WJ Grand Cherokee Laredo (4.0)

For the past couple of weeks I've had a coolant leak, which seems to be somewhere alongside the Drivers Side(Puddle of greenish/coolant looking fluid) I've been temporarily just been putting more coolant in it, and its been fine, but for the past couple of days I've been strapped for cash and haven't been able to get some coolant in it, and it's been dry for a while, but it would still run.. but lately there has a been a odd 'clicking' noise going on, it doesn't go away and I have no idea what it is. Just today my Jeep actually just died(battery is fine) it just won't start, I tried to clear the fuel(holding the accelerator while starting) and it worked once, engine got to a start then died, and now it doesn't start at all.. Last year I had another issue where one of the fuses for the ignition system died out, and I would have to replace it to get it to work(took it to a shop, they couldn't find anything wrong with the jeep, just kept replacing the fuse and it would work)

Now my questions are, what could be stopping it from starting, is it a possible head gasket replacement, or something worse, any tips or advice would be awesome, thanks a lot guys!!

Did you check all the fuses to see if one has blown?
The fact that it started and then died could mean a lack of fuel. Do you hear the fuel pump run for about 3 seconds when you put the ignition switch in run? Is there a valve in the fuel line on the 4.0 engine where you could check for fuel pressure?
If there is any (coolant) leak and you don´t have the time/money to repair it immediately, at least look at it to know where the problem is. Just adding more fluid and continuing on could get you stranded at any time and/or cause additional and more costly repairs.

Thanks for the reply, there is at least a half a tank in fuel in the vehicle, and checked to see if any coolant leaked, and couldn't find any, it must only leak when the vehicle is running, it is not starting and I checked fuses, and replaced some and still nothing, going to get it towed to a shop, thinking the possible problems could be a alternator, or head gasket leak

When you change a blown fuse with a new one without looking for the reason that it blew, could result in blowing the new fuse again. There is probably some kind of short in the respective circuit. Do you remember which fuse it was?
The coolant probably only leaks out when the engine is hot and the cooling system pressurised.

Just reading your first post.....when you say you couldn't afford coolant and ran it dry,do you mean you topped it up with water only or literately ran the engine with out any fluid in it after it leaked out? If the latter I fear expensive engine damage has occurred.
