Im working on a 99 cherokee 4.7 automatic and this monster won't start. I have injector pulse, fuel and fuel pressure(also volume). I have spark(bluish white) this is consistent. I change all the plugs because some were wet with fuel. The muffler blew out while someone kept cranking it and the fumes finally ignited. I put it on the scanner and noticed it had no rpm but had crank signal and no injector pulse ms but had cam signal. I inspected the outer pcm case for the corrosion and saw nothing significant. I am not looking forward to checking the timing marks and wondered if anyone else had any ideas.

Is there any history on what had happened? Did the problem just came out of the blue, or was some maintenance done shortly before?

From what i understand, the woman drove it to the store and when she came out it wouldn't start. She had it towed home and a backyard mechanic put a cam sensor (checked all the connections and wiring to it) in it, then told her it needed a crank sensor and she had it towed to our shop. Also, there are no codes or check engine light.

So did you guys change the crank sensor already? There is fuel and there is spark, but maybe not at the right time. If crank sensor was already changed, my suspicion would go towards the PCM.
But a check of the valve timing would be a good idea before changing any (more) parts.
