Dead!!!!

After 2 years of problem free driving, my '11 Overland has left me stranded for the 2nd time in 2 months. The 1st problem was a result of the factory incorrectly installing the transmission filter, and now I have a dead battery. I had to get my Jeep towed for the 2nd time. Good news again was the prompt action by Roadside Assistance. The dealer has checked out the battery & alternator, & they both appear okay. They think the battery was drained by the lift gate, either caused by a computer issue or a faulty switch. Parts have been ordered and they should be here tomorrow.

I've had a number of vehicles over the last 50 years of driving, and only two have left me stranded. Both were Jeeps - a '95 GC and now my '11. Needless to say I have a very low opinion of Chrysler/Jeep quality right now. If it wasn't for a great relationship I have with my dealer's service staff, I'm afraid I'd be looking to buy another brand.

If concerned about a drain, have the dealer check for the long term load. With everythig off for long enough to time out, the sum of the keepalives and clock should be less than 50 ma.
Got my Jeep back this morning. The dealer re-flashed the computer & replaced the overhead console. They think something happened to the computer code that made the computer think the lift gate was open, draining the battery. Also, there have been reports of the lift gate button in the console being faulty, so they replaced the console just to make sure everything was working correctly. They checked the load and everything is normal, now.

I can't say enough good things about the service advisor & mechanic at my dealership. They're the best!

Hopefully, this is the last major issue I have for a while - fingers crossed!
Glad to here you got your Jeep back and hopfully they have resolved the problem.
Did the service you received change your opinion about Chrysler/Jeep? I would think it would because it sounds like the problem wasn't due to poor quality, just a fluke.

I, too, had my overhead console replaced about a month back after having my battery drained. It's been fine so far since..

5 of the last 6 Chrysler/Jeep vehicles I've bought have been from this dealership. I've had more issues with these products than the Nissans & Chevy's I owned during the same time. I thought Chrysler/Jeep quality had changed for the better with the 2011 GC, but my recent experiences have showed me that Chrysler & Jeep still have quality issues. The only reason I'll buy another is the good relationship I have with the dealer's service department.

That's really good to hear.
Some good news.

Well, it's been almost 3 1/2 months since my GC died. Good news is that it has been performing flawlessly since it was repaired back in February. During that time, my Jeep sat for three weeks while I was away in Europe. It started right away on my return, with no apparent battery issues.
