Hello ... my first post here, hope someone has suggestions.

Just got a nice 2015 Jeep Cherokee Limited this past week, love it! But, I can't play music from my phone via the USB port. It will play from my MP3 player on the AUX, and I finally got bluetooth paired and working. I have the Samsung Galaxy S8. I have tried 3 different cables, and tried in both USB ports.

I have read that there have been some problems with the media hub ... but this may be user error. Thanks!

Hello JennyM,

We're sorry to hear you're having such a hard time with your USB port. If you decide to have this looked at by your dealer, let us know. We're available via direct message and would be happy to get this escalated.

By default, the Samsung Galaxy may not allow data access using the USB.
Have you checked "Developer Options" way down to USB Configuration options?

I don't recall if MTP allows access on the S8 [i have a different model] or if you have
to tell the Android Audio Source.

You MAY need to tell Uconnect to mount the usb device as storage, try setting
MTP and plug it in. If that doesn't work, try setting it to audio source and plug it in.
If you get the option to mount it in Uconnect, you may then need to look at the
Android screen and tell it to allow mount.

What is MTP? How do I set it? I have not gotten an option to mount it.

I have a Samsung S8+. When I plug the USB into it I get a screen popup, see attached. I select "allow" and then I can listen to my music stored on either my phone or in the cloud.

Just my $.02 worth.

I've gotten that screen too, click "allow". Still won't recognize my phone. It says it's "unplayable" as a USB connection.

I can connect via bluetooth, but Uconnect won't let me browse and select music. It only plays a playlist from my phone when I select the playlist from my phone and start playing it.

You need to post or have this moved to WK2 form, your 2017 GRAND Cherokee is different than KL Cherokee.
