Hi everyone, I'm planning to upgrade the Alpine 9 speakers audio system of my WK2 2012 Limited to better components and to swap a JL stealth box, thus I need a Digital Processor capable of summing the signal coming from the Head Unit 430N.
I was trying to understand what to use for this task (never used this kind of line summing things, in the past I always used an aftermarket head unit with direct rca connections) and it looks like the Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.3 is the one that I like the most, but I'm afraid of that 'white noise' hiss mentioned in other line summing threads (i.e. Lc7i, Lc8i).
Does anyone already tried this RF 3sixty.3? What about that hiss?
What wires do I need to tap to get the signals?
Any experience to share?

Never used before this kind of line summing devices, so I'm looking for someone with experience on this to advise me.

You will still get a white noise at low volume with the 3.sixty. It's the impedance of the stock amp not matching the relay. Only way to rid it is go aftermarket HU which I will in the future. I love my system, and the white noise doesn't bother me bc I don't listen to my music at that low of volume

Never went the LOC route either, but figured I'd try because like you I wanted to keep my factory Headunit. Not sure how good the ThreeSixty is but the Lc7i I tried was very disappointing. If you're looking for a Better, Cleaner sound just upgrade the Headunit first and run all your wires. Then when you have enough do the speakers and amp. Would have saved myself almost $200 and ALOT of stress tapping into the factory wires if I just did that first.

Welcome to the club.

The first question you have to ask your self is, do I want to have a surround sound setup. The Alpine factory amp has a basic 7.1 system built into the DSP. The second question you have to ask your self is, do I want to keep the factory head unit which is manufactured for Chrysler by Mitsubishi. This unit does not come close for clean and efficient sound. Once these questions are answered, their are many different paths that can be taken. The key to all this is how much money you want to spend.

With regards to the 3.sixty.3, the fellow member that has the most experience with this unit that I know of is, VOYAGERX, I would send a pm for an highly honest opinion. Some were in this forum, I have a post about summing and the different LOC's out their.

Basically, for the full range signal you need the lows, the mids, and the highs by summing the front door and the subwoofer. From their it depends on if you want the surround sound.

I am not going to start my install until the summer. I am changing out the head unit and I want to keep a 7.1 system as well. I am not sure if I want the JBL MS-8, even though it has the Logic 7 to steer the surround sound.

It seems that I have to think about it deeper. I really want to keep the HU basically to avoid changing so many things (reverse camera, steering wheel controls, handsfree, bluetooth) and also keeping the original look without changing the dashboard.

If I decided to go the route of changing the HU, what parts would I have to buy to keep all the functionality I had now with the original equipment?

Any suggestions of good HU to swap thinking about SQ? If so, you can keep the factory reverse camera or a new one must be purchased for that specific other HU? What about the steering wheel controls?

I kept everything you just have to find the right modules. I also have the factory backup camera, and steering controls. Check my thread and also I think RageofFury's. There's a list of what we used. I've heard good things about Pioneers user interface and Kenwoods Nav. I went with Alpine because I've always been a fan of theirs, but I'm sure which ever one you go with will be good. It's all preference really. Go to your local shops and play with all the different brands. Good luck and let us know what you end up with.

For a SQ HU, I would go with Kenwood's Execlon Line, Alpine units that have the Wolfson DAC's and Pioneer AVH-5500 & AVH-8500 DVD units.

With Pioneer AVH'S series, for navigation you have to use their external unit, AVIC-U250. The advantage of going that route is, each piece of equipment has it's own processor and power supply. The U250 uses IGO primo for the navi software and Naveteq maps.

Correction, it is the Burr-Brown DAC's. These you will find on many audiophile home audio pieces. All the current models from Alpine have them.

The 920,927 and the big 8 inch navi units all use IGO Primo software.
