Does the Pentastar 3.6 engines oil filter have a anti siphon check valve, or does the oil drain back to the crankcase every time that you shut it off?

I'm guessing it drains back in. When cold, I noticed my dipstick appeared to be way overfull. This was a free (respectable) Jeep dealer oil change. I checked the paperwork, and they only put 6 qts in (so they claim). One day I checked it warm, and it was perfect.

KKreit01,

Thank you for responding! I'm not sure why it is designed to drain back, but I also suspected that it was.

;)There is no anti drain back valve in the filter itself but there may very well be an anti drain back built into the lower filter housing or somewhere else. The anti drain back doesn't have to be incorporated into the filter.

 TAKE NOTE: 2014 PentaStar V6 uses a new filter part #68191349AA (MO-349 on the box). Old style filters will not work on 2014 and vice versa!
