That first pic reminds me of one of those Rent-A-Center couches that people leave the plastic on.
I guess it depends on your dog. I just put a Mopar cargo mat in the back and a slush mat over the back of the folded-down right splitter, and my 90-pound black lab has a place to lie down and a spot to stand with his head out the window. He stays off the leather, knows better.
