Figured I'd post this here to get the most exposure to WJ owners. Mods feel free to move it if needed. If you have this head unit this is really easy.
First off you will need 3 things:
1. Cassette adapter You all know what that is.
2. Male to female 90 degree 3.5mm adapter.
3.Double female straight 3.5mm adapter. You could eliminate no 2 above if you could find this in a 90. I couldn't.
Next pop off radio bezel, remove storage bin liner and storage bin by removing 2 screws under liner.
Next insert cassette adapter and run wire down through center stack and into bin opening in console.
Now the next step is up to you. Hole placement is a matter of preference. I chose this location because it's out of the way and so I don't have to worry about stuff getting into the jack. Also it's close to the aux 12v. Wherever you drill start out small and work your way up until your hole is just a fraction smaller than the female side of the 90 degree adapter then force it in. A little WD 40 or equivalent does wonders here. Mine hasn't moved in 2 years no glue at all. If you drill too big you can always glue it.
If you use my location hole placement is important cause you have to drill it just above where the liner will sit and low enough where it won't interfere with the shifter assy under the console. Check twice before you drill!
Next connect your double female to cassette adapter male & 90 degree male on bottom of bin. Reinstall bin, liner and bezel, switch to tape, plug in your player and rock on!
In the first picture in this post you can see I wedged the adapter wire between the disc & dolby buttons you really have to look for it to see it in the Jeep. Also you can leave the cassette adapter in full time as the cassette doesn't run unless selected. I also use the dolby function cause it makes this mod almost totally noise free.
Hope this writeup is clear enough cause now that I'm done I'm confused:lol:
