My 2000 Limited Grand Cherokee dies 8 cyl. I gauges turn off , will not start for awhile. can go about 20 miles. saw an answer in the forum. What is the PCM & where is it located ? I only have this car at this time and need to get it fixed asap. Thank you PS had a dodge caravan that did the same thing and $200 shop did not get it fixed got help online $12 part fixed it thanks again :)

A problem like this can have several reasons. It seems to be temperature related, so could be a sensor problem (such as the crank sensor).
PCM = Powertrain Control Module. This is the electronic controler for the engine and sits in the engine bay on the firewall close to the right fender. It has 3 connectors with a lot of wires on each.
But before doing anything, try the keydance: ignition switch off/on three times and leave in on at the third time. The odometer will show DONE when all ok or a fault code. Let us know what you find.

Thank you for the info. Tried the key , only got done no error code got a price for the PCM $700 Hope my warranty from Alpha Warranty covers it since it is electrical the would not tell me over the phone so I have to take it in to the jeep dealership :( if it is not covered does any one know where to order the best refab unit ? Thanks again :)
