TheFastLane R/T Preview

Apparently there is an "embargo" for the automotive journalists for about 2 weeks, so we won't be seeing any "official" reviews published until probably about the 26th or 27th....but The Fast Lane Car is pushing the envelope a little bit and I think you can tell (wink, wink) that they are impressed with the R/T.

Lol...yeah...of course this only makes me start to second guess my choice of the V-6 on my citadel. What else is there to do while waiting for production but to second guess yourself?!
No, no, no. No buyer's remorse. No second guessing. This will not be a pity party!

You'll be happy with having kept the V6 every week at the pump while the ventilated seats keep you nice and cool, and the sound system pumps out great music.

We're getting one of the best vehicles in the class. Who else offers the combination of space, hauling, features and power the Durango does?

Besides, what's another 70hp anyway....

I don't know but I'm getting good at second guessing myself on the Durango! That's the drawback to ordering early. I didn't have a choice though... I pretty much had to order when I did. I drive too many miles and gas prices are too high for me to justify the Hemi. I sure like the sounds of it though. Immo's going to have fun and probably has that video on a constant loop!

Mine is sitting in a rail yard 60 miles away waiting to be delivered to the dealership. I should be able to go get it? I mean it has my name on it right? :D

Man, what's dodge waiting for, massive stock pile at dealers before they update their site and let reviews out. Even my local dealer in California got one on the lot yesterday. I'll have mine and miles built up before any of this info.

It's so close I can taste it. I can literally see the distribution yard from my backyard with binoculars where my durango is currently sitting. So close...

I'm sure you can walk right up....where do they put the keys when the trucks are in transit?

So you'll be able to, point-by-point, explain why the reviews are wrong, inaccurate....

I SO wish you could get yours. Darn well better have YOUR name on it. I generally am plagued by less than stellar luck and timing. Figures that mine made it to the dealership quickly but I'm landlocked in the Midwest for another week. My sales person has touched it, admired it, but couldn't find the keys yesterday to get in it. The good news is my paint job will not continue to bake in the TX sun, as this dealership has a multi story garage where my Citadel will hang out for a week.

I've had buyer's remorse since long before I made my final decision, and many days since. I am going to enjoy the heck out of this vehicle, and I hope and pray it isn't lemon yellow under the billet silver. And I ordered the Hemi. Why? I've been frugal all my life, driven a slightly underpowered vehicle for 14 years, and I'm moving to Dallas, where it seems one needs size and speed on the highways (and blind spot assist) to survive. I have some long distance trips I will be forced to make, but I'm not a daily high mileage driver. Of course, if I enjoy the throaty exhaust and hanging out in the Durango, that could all change.....until I go broke feeding it:(. Uh oh....there's that remorse again. Now, I just hope it doesn't have a sissy a$$ horn in case I have to let people know they are in my way.

I seem to recall hearing the horn on a video someone posted the other day (the 17 minute) and it does NOT sound sissy.

That R/T sounds mean! As it did in the walk around video from the other dealer. Definitely seems to have more bite than the 2013s I've driven. Did they change the exhaust or is this just an artifact of the mic and speakers.

Hopefully I'll get to experience this in person very soon and will report back.

Looks like a race to the dealer between you and Immo. I'm sure we're all looking forward to some first impression reports.
After the mandatory embargo period of course...wouldn't want to incur the wrath of Dodge. :D

You have been so supportive of your fellow Durango buyers, and so patient too ( I know, you don't have a choice). I, for one, will look forward to YOUR first impressions, and I suspect some of the pictures you post will be among the best in the bunch. Now, let's get yours built.

Thank you. It's been an interesting road but we're pretty much all (a dozen of us, at least) in this together. I have many people to thank here.

You absolutely won't see dealer quality pictures from me! :)

Yeah... let's get it built so I can wait some more. vertrkr, are you for hire? Might need some of your mapping and surveying skills for once this gets built and on the train! It should take the same path as Immo's R/T. And that R/T better be long gone and purring that throaty sound somewhere by the time mine gets to that rail yard! :D

Any chance you want to hold that train for me? I'd about fall over if the two Ds made it onto the same train/truck to the dealer.

And yes, my thanks too, for the tips/guidance and so on over the last month.

Still wondering about those 20" wheels...maybe an upgrade after the first year...

I'll be very curious to see what dates you get. I know this first batch had est delivery dates extended. My date hasn't changed from the 25th but that doesn't mean it won't. I think Milous said dates aren't modified between stages (or something to that effect).

I think I'm over the 20" wheels now. I'll just accept the fact that they look better. That's what I keep telling myself at least.
