Just had the new Laredo on its first long highway trip. (800 total miles) I averaged 21 mpg. (3.6l)

I was impressed, as my 2008 Patriot I traded in with a 2.4l engine could only get that on a downhill highway.

That is pretty good! A week or two ago I took a 200-mile trip and averaged 19.4 mpg. 21.0 mpg was my average in my 2011 2.4 Patriot and my best tank with the Patriot was 26.9 mpg with the wind to my back on the highway.

In the city, I'm getting about 16 mpg in my WK2, which isn't too far from my last Fuelly entry for the Patriot of 17.9 mpg.

You can get better, but that's not a bad average for the whole trip (if it includes some city driving). I always reset at every tank. You should be able to make 22-23 on a pure highway tank. I know what you mean. Ours makes as good as mileage as our '08 Mariner V6 4wd did with 90 less HP, and 1000 lbs less weight. That's very poor for a Patriot. Much more powerful SUVs make much better.

Since the trip involved going over the mountains and city driving along with the highway (500 miles) it was pretty good.

Plus the power advantage of the larger engine going up the mountain pass.

21.5 in my 5.7 hemi at 70 mph....tacking below 2,000 rpms

That's pretty decent mileage. The fact that after an 800 mile trip you ended with, I love it, is good to hear!

Right now my Hemi is getting much better mileage than that
Of course it is still on the train.

Yeah, I never reached the advertised 26 mpg highway in the Patriot. I lean on sites like Fuelly to get real-world mpg information when shopping for a new vehicle now.

I've had my WK2 for a out two weeks now and have averaged around 22 MPG combined with roughly 60% freeway and 40% city.

I took one 300 mile mostly freeway trip at average speeds of around 70 MPH and was getting over 24 MPG.

My 2003 Durango RT used to get around 12 MPG. Lol

How did it Ride and Handle at 70+ MPH ? Did you feel any type of "shimmy" in the steering wheel ? Also, any extra cabin noise at that speed ?

Both of my Test Drives so far were at Dealers where I could only get up to about 45.

I just took my first road trip last weekend in my new Laredo v6. Around 700 miles mostly interstate at 72-75 mph. The v6 had to downshift a little more than my buddy's hemi overland on the hills, but the engine and the ride was smooth as glass. The EVIC said 22.8 mpg, but that is on JK Sahara 32" AT's so the reading should be about 3% low. At 72 on the speedo, my GPS was reading 76 mph. I like this Jeep more every time I drive it!

At 70 MPH it is smooth, quite and feels planted to the road. I regularly get up to around 80 MPH without noticing because it is so quite. I've noticed that at speeds above 85 MPH I start to hear some wind noise. The couple of times that happened though were fairly windy days. Haven't gone beyond 90ish MPH yet.

I think that maybe you need a new dealer. I hit 80+ MPH the two times I test drove my jeep.

I have around 1700 miles on it now and am averaging around 21/22 MPG with roughly 50% HWY and 50% city.

I find the '14 to be very stable at highway speeds. I took a 578 mile trip on Wednesday with 300 miles of it at 80mph. The vehicle doesn't rattle, shimmy or feel the least bit unstable. I'm wildly impressed. About the only thing that effects this vehicle on the highway is wind. The cabin sounds are quiet too. But, it doesn't hurt that the 8.4AN is a rocking stereo too. That drowns out a lot of wind noise.
