hey all -- my wife was driving the '14 JGC Overland today and the vehicle automatically braked her presumably to avoid what it assessed as an imminent crash. she said there was a car slowing in front of her, but a crash was not near "imminent". has anyone had what they felt was an inappropriate crash avoidance braking? also, I have the "forward collision warning active braking" deselected within the settings, which I thought would turn off this active braking feature.

we have about 1,000 miles on the vehicle so far and have been happy; however, this incident kinda freaked my wife ... appreciate any thoughts, comments and/or feedback.

I know mine is working, I've had it apply the brakes, and I have had the annoying alert come up... 2014 Overland...no issues with and without ACC on

was she on ACC at the time?

When the FCW brakes, IIRC you get a big red BRAKE! message in the cluster. The ACC will brake to maintain set distance without the warning in the cluster (actually, I think you can get the warning in the cluster on ACC braking if the distance is short or the closing rate is too high).

AFAIK there is no way to disable ACC braking, other than to not use ACC.

I've had issues with this as well, multiple times. I think the system is just too sensitive. Also if someone is turning right in front of you, it will frequently trigger the alert. Very annoying in my opinion, BUT it will probably save my life one of these days! ?

she was not in ACC and she did see the big red BRAKE displayed ... also, as Chris mentioned, there was someone in front of her turning right into a gas station. guess the system was more sensitive than she expected.

does the button below the Uconnect screen fully disable/turn off this feature?

This feature would have helped the CR-V on Monday. A car was pulling into a gas station and realized they didn't have a lot of room to pull all the way in off the street. The CR-V slammed right into the back of him.
