Hi guys!


Need your advise, I need to replace my Jeep's front drive shaft (p/n 52853431AA) my jeep is currently at the dealer looks like that drive shaft is not available anywhere around the USA (I know sounds crazy) that part is on back order, I googled that part number and there's a lot of websites that claims they have that drive shaft, however I don't know them and I was expecting that maybe some of you can help me with some recommendations on what to do about it.

By the way, dealer is asking 670$ for the part including labor for a brand new drive shaft and 500$ for a used one.

What do you think?

dont know if this will help but try this link, in post #24 there is mention of a company called rockford that may or may not offer parts to convert yours to ujoints or they sell the cv type joints you need it was getting confusing reading all the thread posts so im not really sure, but good luck. i guess its certainly worth calling them. post the outcome if you dont mind. heres the link

If it is only the prop shaft you can easily do it yourself. I believe there are only 8-12, bolts, a wobble socket will be needed. You will have to toggle back and forth from park to neutral if you have jeep off the ground while taking off and on. Once u take bolts out put lock tight on threads before u put back in. It shouldn't take longer than half hr. I believe Dana was the manufacturer of the prop shafts. Check with them.

I gotta buy a new drive shaft an I have a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo 4wd. I just need to know if this information is right So I can order one. Thanks
