I want to replace the spare tire on my 2012 GC Overland. It has 265/60R18 tires. The OEM "full size spare" doesn't have the same size tire, it's narrower and has a steel rather than aluminum wheel. Can I put a 265/60R18 tire on the OEM spare rim?

It's an 18" wheel. You can install that size, but the 265cm width may struggle to fit under the lid. The OEM spare is 245cm wide but has the same load rating as the OEM tires on the four corners.

Some people have swapped in bigger tires (not on spare rim) but they have had to run a lower PSI so the lid with lay flat. Then you would need a compressor or can of air in the event you would ever need to use or possibly you might be able to use depending how low the pressure is under OEM. I don't remember what PSI they have ran them at to get the lid to lay flat.

Anyone know the width of the OEM spare rim?

Thanks all. I ended up buying a used matching wheel off ebay for $85. I'll clean it up and get my tire mounted on it and see if it fits in the space.
