There is a lot of info on here about AT tread tyres. I only drive on road and sand so HT are fine for me. Just about to hit 30,000 Kim's and the khumos have had it. I'm looking at the cooper HT plus or the Dunlop grandtrek AT20 they're called AT but the info has them listed (and they look like) HT tread. Any comments or other suggestions? I'm really only considering OEM 18" size.

Hi Mendo
I replaced my Khumos (40K) recently with Continental Conticross LX ($299.00 fitted per tyre) mainly due to the price. I have now done 3k on these and have no issues but only time will tell. They appear to have more tread than the Khumos but a total different tread pattern .

Thanks Baxter. I'll have a look at the continentals.

Tyresales have a deal on kumhos 266 fitted. I'm half tempted to go back.

I decided to go back to the kuhmos as I got 45k on them, also towed our poptop 2250kg van over 15k so I was happy with them. That was with the Hemi, now have a new CRD and very happy with the fuel now towing 3060kg (that's another story).
Having 20" you have less options

I can say those Dunlop's are stock tyres on Toyota Prado's, they wear quickly and are indicative of all stock tyres including those on Jeeps, basically they are entry level stuff, the Cooper HT Plus 265 60 18 are excellent on and off road, quiet, good grip in all weather and give a sense of confidence wherever you go as they are very hard to puncture, I have had many sets on my Pajero's and Jeeps and never had a flat, they are also quiet for the highway. ( Get them on eBay for $200 each) quality tyres that will last in excess of 70 - 80,000kms.

I have Bridgestone Dueller HT-683s on the Pajero (17") and they have been great.
Never an issue to report, lasted a good amount of time too.

What is the complete size detail for your tyres, you only say 18"

Thanks everyone... The size is 265/60 R18. I'm back to kumhos @266 ea or the coopers. Had a look at mine again today. I've still got 1-2mm before I get to the tread wear indicators, one is getting low on the shoulder (1-2mm) Might hold off for another month or two but appreciate your thoughts so I can do a little more research and be ready.

I have to say I am really happy with my choice of Pirelli Scorpion ATR 265/60R18. Whilst they are an AT tyre they could be classed as a "mild" AT tyre going by the tread. Only travelled approx 1000km thus far and only a dirt track off road but handles that and the highway beautifully! I believe the Scorpion STR is not in the same league though going by reviews.

Thanks everyone. I got a set of kumho's 255per tyre fitted through tyres sales.com.au. They send them to a dealer (in this case) where I bought my car. The dealer then does the fitment and alignment. Pretty happy with that b/c my dealers service dept is pretty good and I wanted someone who knows q/lift to do to alignment.
