Ive read the "32 Problems and Suggested fix" and its an awesome post if i may say.
Ive had my heater core leaking for about a year or more and its finally cought up with me my windshield gets fogy and it bothers me sometimes.. As far as a quick fix would any one recommend doing the Bar's/Liquid aluminum cooling system and radiator stop leak it works for aluminum radiators and heather cores i also heard you have to open the thermostat is that true?

I am personally not a fan of these liquid silver flake stop leaks and whats not. Older cooling systems can get internal buildup and you may or may not cause more trouble then you want.

As far as the thermostat it will open on its own when the engine is up to temp. likely enough to let this magic stop leak pass thru. if it does not imagine what else it may clog up....

IMO if you go this route consider it a band aid. I recommend a flush and fluid change when you fix it the right way.

I dont agree with them, they are not a professional repair... that said if you want to bandaid your own car by yourself and risk other cooling system issues its up to you. I have heard of these "mechanics in cans" working for cooling system leaks to head gasket leaks, I have also heard of them not working, and I have heard of complications.... its up to you... another thing you can do to buy yourself some time is just bypass the heater core, just remove the hoses and get a splice and attach the hoses together.
