Hello all, first time poster. Just bought an '09 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. The noise started shortly after I purchased it.

Whenever I have the heat/AC on I'll hear a high pitched whistle whenever I turn the wheel to the left. When I turn right it doesn't make noise. While driving straight it won't do it, though sometimes I'll hear it faintly. When the dial is off, no noise.

Thanks for any input.

When you say "The dial is off", do you mean to say the climate control system is off? If so, then it's most likely the bearing in the climate control fan is on its way out. It will eventually get louder, then seize.

Yes, sorry I meant to say when I turn the knob off do not have the heat/AC on.

It's aggravating because sometimes on a short drive it won't do it at all, but usually seems to begin whenever I turn the steering wheel to the left. When I straighten the steering wheel back or turn right it doesn't do it.

Is the part you are referring to under the glove box? It does seem to come from that area I think.

Thanks so much for the help.

Congrats on your purchase, maq49. Just to chime in, if you decide to work with a Jeep dealer, let us know. We'd be happy to help with this process.

Have you checked your cabin air filter? You might find that you have a lot of crud/leaves sitting on top of it that may interfere with the fan.
