I seem to have a loud hollow sounding thump coming from the cargo agrea when going over a bump in the road or speed bump or alike . Any ideas?

Sounds like a shock issue...unless your spare is loose and moving around a bit back there. Run a search and you will find a bunch of threads on the shock issues.
Had the same thing with 2000 miles on it. It was the shock. There was a tsb referring to this for 11-13 WK 2's
Look for load leveling shock rattle. There are literally hundreds of posts.

As it turns out, even with TSB no solution. The rattle/thumping comes back after several thousand miles.

I just how your spare is loos;-)
Check for bodies in the trunk. LOL Just keeping it light. :) Hope it is the spare tire or jack.
Just got the Jeep back yesterday form the dealer. The thumping noise was one of the items they addressed. There was a TSB concerning this on 2014 GC with the trailer tow option. (Non 4X4). They ordered the rear air shocks and replaced them per the TSB.
So far no more noise.
Yep, did that with mine; replaced the shocks four times. Third one with the shocks mentioned in the TSB (which came out later). Fourth replacement was after the TSB came out but with a newer version of the shocks then stated in the TSB. All the time the noise came back after several thousand miles. All new shocks have been quiet initially.

So, it looks like even the 14' have that problem. How can it be so difficult to get a shock quiet?
I wonder if it is the load-leveling feature causing the problems?
I started a poll some time ago (should be still around) and while you are right some experience the noise with regular shocks also.

Try tightening the rear wiper mounting bolts inside the lift gate. (remove inside gate panel)
