According to the option list my Laredo is equipped with "BNMS Traction Control "

From page 465 of my 2012 Owner's manual:
"Traction Control System (TCS)
... If wheel spin is detected, brake
pressure is applied to the slipping wheel(s)..."

This sounds logical but my Laredo is 2WD and according to the spec sheet "(b) Three-channel ABS standard on 4x2.".

Does this mean that two of the three channels are for the rear or is something magical happening ? (Otherwise how does it know which wheel is "slipping" ?)

Anyone know how the traction control actually works with 2WD ? YWTK.

BTW 2013 and 2014 have the same legend.

Saw this question some time ago but with no answer.

the wheel speed sensors detect spin and that will apply the brakes. I would guess you only have traction control on the rear wheels.

Everything has to be 4 channel for stability control to work, so pretty much every vehicle in the last couple years has had to have 4 channel.

I agree it takes a 4-channel to do it properly but then why do the 2011, 2012, 2013, & 2014 spec sheets (from wk2jeeps.com) all say "
Three-channel ABS standard on 4x2. Four-channel ABS standard on 4x4."

I'd really like to hear an answer from somone connected to Jeep.

Does anyone know how to tell the difference ? The FSM only mentions four-channel.

If you have wheel speed sensors at all 4 corners then you have 4 channel. If you have them at the front two wheels and on the rear differential, you have 3 channel.
