Just saw this commercial. Gimmick or not, it is very true.

Equinox: Programmable Lift Gate That Won't Scratch the Garage | Chevrolet - YouTube

In fact, my old 2002 Jeep use to Hit the Garage Door when open and just rest against it. No problem as long as you didn't shut garage door.

With this stupid Power Lift gate I think it's gonna bump it and go right back down. Or burn it out. Because I tried simulating it and was pushing up pretty hard.

I don't know just yet because I'm in the middle of building a new Garage. I think the old Jeep would have not touched. But the new Jeep is that much taller that it will bump a few inches before it's fully open.

Just experienced this as well. I believe the explorer can open to a programmed height too. Hopefully this is a feature they can add...

With the Explorer you set it to the height you want and hold the close button on the tailgate until it beeps at you...poof custom height lift gate. Someone who has their jeep could always give it a try.

I believe you can stop it at by hitting the button, can't you?

I doubt it can be added because I doubt they have an position feedback to know where the lift gate is in its travel. It most likely only has end of travel switches. If the up switch could be adjusted, you could permanently set it lower.

It would also be awesome if you could set it up to not close automatically when put in gear.
I tow a jetski and find the trailer hard to see when reversing the trailer to load the ski back on.
Would make it a lot easier to see if you could leave the tailgate open.

As the TV commercial says you can raise the garage door. We have a "high lift" garage door meaning the top of the horizontal track is 6 inches below the garage ceiling. No big deal. The main difference is the track starts the change from vertical to horizontal sooner using a 45 degree angle short track to make the change.
