So a couple weeks ago I was having a problem with Voice Dial going bonkers and not finding my contacts. This was on the prior firmware that's out the last couple weeks.

When I loaded the latest firmware (13.48.3) a couple weeks ago, it went pretty smooth. I was in no rush, I was doing other chores. So I started the flash and left it. Came back 1hr later then factory reset it.

Then left it overnight.

Next morning the new Pandora Apps were there and I reset things up and every thing worked. All I had to do was register my Pandora Account online and that had me stumped for a bit.

Couple weeks go by and no issues with Voice Dial either. Cool.

So then I decide to get the latest Rev C transmission update.

It was due for service. But I said, Don't change oil (I just put in Full synthetic myself), Don't Rotate Tires (I just put 4 separately mounted Snows), please don't wash it and DON'T update the RADIO.

Well they fixed the Transmission (Yippy), Didn't Rotate, Didn't Touch Oil and Didn't Wash it Cool.

But they flashed the Radio again. Doh !!

No biggy, I wanted to bitch, but I thought they didn't give me any hassle with the Transmission update and they are probably doing the right thing for most people that wouldn't know how to flash the Radio.

But what a nightmare getting the radio back to normal.

It was really messed up. And the Voice Dial issue came back !!! The firmware in the radio said it was the same version.

Just in case I reflashed it and factory reset it.

This time I sat around and waited for some parts.

For the longest time it thought it was an SRT and I could not control the heated seats that were cooking me. Oh now that I think of it, I could have shut that auto comfort thing off. any way.

Couldn't get the Pandora (via Mobile) working again.

Had Duplicate songs across SD and USB.

After several forced reboots, hard resets and being patient (like waiting over night - which still didn't completely fix it) I made some progress and it was a Jeep Again (i.e. not an SRT).

Still couldn't get Pandora up and Uconnect wanted me to register again (never had to do that since I bought it).

So finally I tried the "Assist" button. First time. It said I'm not subscribed for that service and to call this phone number.

So then I played with the App on Android, which was completely working.

So I hit the Assist Button on the phone and it also said I'm not subscribed but it immediately called the number.

While ON HOLD. The Uconnect Registration App disappeared and Pandora App appeared !!

I hung up and everything is back as it was before the dealer reflashed the same version.

So the dealer doing the Polite Update to the SAME (supposed) version, that I bit my lip on and didn't complain, cost me a good 3 hrs of dicking with the radio.

Next time I'll put a sign on the Radio. The guy that received the car never wrote anything on the sheet to not touch the radio. Oh and I was waiting in the waiting area while he was "fixing" my radio for me :)

So if your happy with your radio on latest firmware and you bring it in, make sure they don't touch it.

Also if you are having radio issues, keep at it, and try a factory reset.

The radio might have sorted itself out, but I didn't trust it once the voice dial issue came back. Which I realize could still happen.

The first time you do the engineering reset it freaks you when the SRT logo comes on and you aren’t expecting it. I thought I had screwed something up.

The first part of the update process is to check if it is required. Why the hell would any mechanic want to do work they don’t need to?
It is hard enough for many of them to do what they should be doing.

Yeah, I've seen the SRT thing before. But it usually sorts itself on next boot.

If you don't wait long enough for some things in background to finish or not let it fully shutdown for reboots it can mess things up, or delay it sorting things out.

Cell signal strength and how busy network was might effect it too.

Your kind of blind though, nice if it told you more of whats going on.

For you, and many others, it would be good if they let you know what was going on. But, they couldn't hire enough customer service reps to handle the calls asking "what does that mean?"

It's a fine line when it comes to how much information do you give the customer.

We need more folks like you who are willing to work through it, rather than just complain.

They updated because they charged Chrysler for it. Plain and simple. Since you did your own upgrade it wasn't in the records so they got paid to do it. I went so far as to hand the service writer the Service bulletin and show him what code to enter in the system that shows it updated.
