Hi Guys

Hopefully you guys can give me some advice. I have 2009 Hemi - recently, whenever I go over a bumpy road the front suspension starts to knock as I go over the little bumps in the road. I thought it was the shock mountings so when it was due for the service I told them (Jeep Dealership) about it.

When I collected the car I got, "It was just the shock mountings which were a bit loose, we tightened them so it should be all sorted."

Even though it was better it still knocks... keen to take it back to them but would like to know if you guys could give me any insight on what the problem is so they can get it sorted this time around because they clearly not able to find the fault.

Thanks Guys!

Could be the shocks themselves--when they go bad sometimes they will knock over bumps. Another thing to check are the front sway bar end links. If the bushings start to go on them I've seen all sorts of weird noises, including knocking sounds.

Hey guys, recently took delivery of 2014 Overland. First time I took it to the bush and drove slowly down a dirt road with small bumps I noticed s similar 'knocking' sound coming from the suspension. Almost like the wheels were quickly dropping to the maximum extension point of the suspension. Only occurred in Off road height settings.....normal was fine. I'll be interested to see if you get to the bottom of the issue....mine is intermittent so hard to show the dealership in the city.

This is normal and will be most noticeable in the highest (Off Road 2) setting. In the off road height settings the vehicle is being raised closer (quite close with OR2) to lowest suspension travel point (the body goes up so the suspension arms are "hanging" down). During suspension rebound or wheel drop it will hit that lowest travel point and may "knock" or "bang" a bit.
