I posted this in another thread a couple of weeks ago... There is hope.

Great news! Jeep Cares took care of the leather dash replacement on my out of warranty 2014 Overland. After reaching out, my local Jeep Social Care Specialist Keiara walked me through the process of having my Jeep inspected at my local dealership, Folsom Lake Jeep. My Service Advisor, Andrew Signorelli, determined that my dashboard was defective and recommended it be replaced. Keiara reviewed his inspection and let me know a couple of days later that FCA would replace it at no cost to me. It took two weeks for the part to arrive. I knew it had arrived because Keiara let me know by email that it was in. Andrew called the next morning and we scheduled an appointment. It took a little over a day for the replacement and the job was done perfectly.

I have to thank Keiara. She checked in with me every couple of days to update me on the status of my repair. I received 10 emails from her during the process and was pleasantly surprised by her diligence and follow through. She was fantastic!

Andrew and Folsom Lake Jeep kept the high level of customer service going. Andrew was friendly, helpful and made sure I was a happy customer. I did not pay a penny to have my dash replaced. Jeep Cares and FCA picked up the entire bill including the initial inspection.

I've read a lot of negative things about dealerships, Jeep Cares and FCA. I'm happy to be able to share my very positive experience and hope that others will be treated as I was.

That is wonderful news! I've only ever had 1 call with Jeep Cares and my experience was excellent. My problem was handled and resolved in a professional curtious manner. I only wish I had called them earlier rather than listening to the dealership.

JeepCares came through for me. The longest wait during the whole process was waiting for the new dash to come in. Replaced and looks perfect. Now, I only have to replace the defroster grille as it was deformed over time when the dash bubbled up. Awesome for a 2011 Overland with 54xxx miles.

Hi Everyone,
We would like to confirm that FCA has released a limited time extended warranty (X81) to address "Leather Instrument Panel (IP) Cover Delaminating" on 2011 - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees. This extended warranty is applied pending dealer diagnosis. We recommend reaching out to your dealers if you believe this applies to your vehicle.

Can you provide the entire TSB so we can read it? How long is the period of this warranty extension valid?

...so, basically if yours starts to let go after a year, you are out of luck is basically what it is saying... :(
And as a 2015 owner I'll continue to park mine in the shade with a sunshade with the dash lathered in UV protectant.

According to what I read here and elsewhere, the warranty includes 2011-2014 GCs and the TSB is valid for 6 months after this TSB was released (12/18/2019).

Whoever thought of putting a leather dash on a daily driver should be locked up in a nut house, and anyone who approved it should also be locked up with them.

Anyone that has a new GC should be using a windshield sun shield every time it is parked outside. They should also be treating it with a leather conditioner on a very regular basis.

If it was me, and the GC was out of warranty I'd probably think about buying one of those carpeted dash covers. It may look better than the damaged leather dash.

And if you're paying out of pocket for a replacement put in a Limited dash.

Same thing has happened to me now. 2014 Overland eco diesel. Got a quote of $2,675 to fix!!! I have full max care warranty that of course doesn’t cover it. $50k SUV and the dash looks like horrible on top of all these diesel issues. Not happy.

There’s a warranty extension, go to your dealer and tell them about extension x81. You will get it replaced for free!

Had my 2014 Overland in for another recall 2 weeks ago, literally days after the x81 recall was released. I brought a copy of it with me, they said mine was in scope, which I expected because mine looks like hammered shit. Have 6 months from the recall date to get it done. Service manager said it's hard to get a new dash delivered without any damages. So I'm going to call ahead and have a verified good part delivered first, then will schedule the service.

Jeep came through and fixed mine. They were very nice about it. If you paid to have your's fixed, call Jeep Cares because you can submit for reimbursement. If your's hasn't been fixed, go to the dealership. And don't let the dealership whine and complain and tell you they can't get parts in time bc that's not true. If you have a problem with the dealership, call Jeep Cares.
The dealership I purchased my Jeep from is terrible. Jeep Cares was really nice and since I've been to the new dealership, things are going well.
The form Jeep Cares sent out specifically says they will reimburse if you had it repaired and if you need it repaired, take to the the dealership, they will fix it and then you have a new warranty on the new dash.

Thank you Jeep Cares for standing behind your vehicles!. Changed my whole opinion!

I'm curious if this "jeep cares" thing actually solved any issues.
I can tell you for a fact that they do. I had my entire leather dash replaced thanks to JeepCares! They were beyond fantastic to work with and were so accomodating and communicative. I was asked to pay a small co-pay and they covered the rest. Hope this helps!

Hello! Question.
I had my 2016 Jeep GC Overland dash replaced through JeepCares and it was fully paid for via FCA. But I wanted to know something for myself. Upon removing the dash, does the area near the Selec-Terrain/Gearshift area need to come out as well to remove the entire dash. Again just asking for personal knowledge. Any responses would be great!

I took my Jeep in on 1/4/20 and they took the pictures and started the replacement process under x81. I’m still waiting; I’ve called every few weeks and can never get any kind of update. And that’s well before everything going on. Sucks because it’s killing my selling/trade in value right now.

Jeep put out a bulletin last month. They will replace the leather dashes. Your dealership is not paying attention. Call JeepCares Monday morning.

I said last month (March) but the bulletin might have been in February. Either way, Jeep is replacing the dash. They also said if you already paid out of pocket; contact them about a reimbursement.

with the rona going around anybody with the issue better get process going because in my area everything is closed but service and they are backed way way way up. Also When i had mine replaced years ago it took 2 deliveries before they got one with out a tab being broken in shipping etc. Because I doubt FCA is going to extend the coverage time due to the Virus.
