I've owned several Audi's in the past, and own one now. Using VAG-COM from a business named Ross Tech, I can re-code most modules on the car without problem. It's a fairly simple program to use, allowing the owner to re-code to, say, European lighting...or add whatever part...or make the windows roll-up/down with the key fob only, data log, etc.

I've tried using my software & cable to read the generic OBD-II software, but I can't even do that with the '14's CAN-BUS system. Does anyone know what software is avaliable now to read, and edit, the ECU/CAN-BUS?? Has anyone successfully re-coded a module on the new Jeeps??

the 14's were hacked like a week ago. there is no off the shelf software to help you.

there is NO SIMPLE HACKS here....hasnt been since the WK came out in 2005.

even the tuning software that does become available will not allow you to change settings on your canbus like windows or lighting.

the dealers use a WITEK system IIRC.

the 11-13' ecu's haven't been fully decoded yet. We still don't have full access to fuel maps etc. Chrysler went to a lot of trouble to secure these systems. sucks

VW/Audis are lucky to have Ross Tech. He cracked it and VW has not seemed to worry about securing it since.

Some 3rd parties have "enhanced" interfaces but they still don't do what RossTech does.

I think only the Witech stuff does the type of stuff you are thinking of and is very expensive and I don't think any Joe can buy it.

I have the ross-tech stuff for my VW too.

You can read stats (temps etc), read error codes, and clear error codes with generic interfaces.

Their kits also include a VCI Pod. I suspect that this is used to encode/decode communications to the modules via WiTech. When you say "hacked," what do you mean?? The encryption was broken, bypassing the need for the VCI pod?

Agreed on the tuning part, even then I've little interest in that part. Being able to see error codes and re-code modules would be helpful though.
