So, today, we went to Costco and after loading a bunch of stuff, I shut the door and pushed the button (driver side door). I heard the "honk" and wife, myself and kid on my shoulders walked across to Best Buy. An hour later, I come back and try to remote start the Jeep. No luck. I come closer and look at the dash, it says "Remote Start aborted. Door Ajar". I thought maybe wife did not close the door properly and look at the rear passenger side door... IT WAS WIDE OPEN! Wife forgot to shut the door after loading the stuff we bought at Costco.
Luckily, no one did not steal the 36 rolls of toilet paper from the rear seat and my dog did not take this opportunity to run away.
On all my earlier cars, the "honk" on lock will only sound when all doors are closed and locked. My Boxster honks the horn with a short "beep" if anything is not closed and I lock the door. Same with the Cayenne, I can press the lock button on the fob, but the "honk" only happens after all doors are shut!
Can something be done to make the "honk" sound ONLY after all doors are shut?
I am glad we did not anything valuable in the Jeep while we were away today, otherwise, it could have been worse.
As a caution, from now on, I will be double checking all doors even after I hit that lock button.
Cheers,
